LOWE, John (d.). The late John Lowe, of Pilkington, was b. in Kirkmichael, Scot., in 1796 and d. in 188 , age 86. He came to Canada in 1843, settling first in Guelph, and afterwards in Pilkington on lot 8, con. A. He was a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. He m. Amelia Rattrav, who d. in 1875, age 79. Issue: Robert (d.), m. Julia McLean, set. Pilkington, lot 7, con. A.; John, m. Mary Pennyquick, set. in Grey Co.; James (d ), Donald (d.), m. Rebecca Bradley, Ann (d.), Jane, d. in Scot.; Mrs. Simon Patterson, set. in Galt; Elizabeth. set. in U.S., and Peter.

Peter, b. in Kirkmichael, Scot., in 1832, and came to Canada in 1840, settling in Guelph. He is a very energetic man, and has taken part in all of the struggles of pioneer life, working first with his brother in Grey Co., opening up that territory. In 1873 he set. in Pilkington on the homestead farm. He feeds a large number of cattle for export, and has a splendid farm, up-to-date in every respect. He is a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. Although often requested to do so, he has never .sought or held office in church or county. He m. Agnes Leslie. Issue: Margaret Amelia, Annie Patterson, James, Leslie, Peter and Elizabeth Jane.
