LOVE, John, b. Co. Donegal, Ire., in 1837. In 1854, at sixteen years of age, he landed in Montreal. After working there and in Sherbrooke, Quebec, for some years, he went to Mornington Tp., where he worked as a teamster and drove stage for about eight years. He then purchased 50 acres of bush land, paying $1,000 for it, and after clearing it and putting up buildings, sold it for $2,000.In 1874 he came to Maryborough Tp. and bought 100 acres, the east half of lot 7, con. 2, for which he paid $4,000, and later purchased 200 acres, lot 7, con. 3. He is one of the best farmers in the section, and has been successful in life, as he came to Canada without means, and by his industry and frugality acquired 300 acres of land, valued at $20,000. He has been a strong church worker, being Steward for years, and helping to build the Methodist church at Lebanon. In politics he is a strong Conservative, and a hard worker for his party. In 1862 he m. Jane McConkey, who d. in 1877, age 37. Issue: Mary E. (d.), George, Mrs. Alfred Blough, John, and Charles, Maryborough.

George was b. in Mornington Tp., and came with parents to Maryborough when seven years of age. He now owns 100 acres, the west half of lot 7, con. 3. This is one of the best improved farms in the section. He carries on mixed farming, and buys and sells cattle in the winter season. He is one of the shrewd and successful farmers of the township, a well read man, and has been School Trustee for some years. He is a Methodist and a Conservative. In 1892 he m. Ellen Crookshanks. Issue: Meredith and Hazel J.

John owns the old homestead of 100 acres, east half of lot 7, con., 2, where he carries on mixed farming, and has a well improved place. He is a Methodist and a Conservative. He m. Sarah Kennedy in 1896. Issue: Ethel J., John M., and Myrtle M.

Charles owns the east half of lot 7, con., 3, Maryborough. He m. Maud Dickson. He is a Conservative, and a Methodist in religion.

All the members of the Love family are progressive and have been successful in life. They have always taken an active interest in church as well as political matters, and have made their influence felt in the settlement.
