LOGHRIN, William
(d.), was b. Co. Armagh, Ire., 1773, d. 1859. He came to Canada and Eramosa in
1828, and set. on lot 25, con. 2, where he owned 224 acres. He m. Agnes Cooper,
who d. 1847, age 66 years. Issue: James, Mrs. James McCullough, Thomas,
Alexander (d. young); Mrs. Thomas Armstrong, and John (d. young).
James, b. Ire., was nineteen when he came with his parents, to Eramosa. He became a prominent man in affairs, was Councilor, and Reeve of Eramosa, and unsuccessfully contested the South Riding of Wellington, for M.P. He was a very successful man, and left a large property. Of his family now living are: Mrs. William Bathgate, Mrs. John I. Hobson, Elizabeth, and Martha J. Thomas b. Ire., 1810, came to Eramosa with his parents. He m. Mary Wilson. Issue: Mrs. James Hanna, Agnes (d. 13); William, Isabella (d.), Martha (d.), Mrs. Geo Keith; Alexander, and James, Jr. Of this branch, William, m. Mary McKee, set. in Nichol, and d. there. Alexander, m. Frances Monteith, set. in Eramosa, and d. there. His family removed to Stratford. James, Jr., b. Eramosa in 1852, was raised and always lived there. He m., in 1876, Matilda Armstrong, and owned the old Loghrin farm, lot 25, con. 2, 224 acres, where he lived until his death in 1882. Issue: Mrs. Robert McClanahan, Mrs. George Clayton, William, and James. William succeeded to the homestead, on which he carries on mixed farming. He is an enterprizing young man.
