LEWIS, James (d.)., b. Aberdeen, Scot., 1815, d. Puslinch, 1884. Mr. Lewis was a Presbyterian in religion, and in politics a Liberal. He m. Isabella Christie in Scot. Issue: James, Mrs. John Tawse, Jane, Mrs. Frank Watson, and Alexander.

James, Jr., unm., was b. and educated in Scot. He came to Canada in 1870, and rented the Gideon Hood farm of 200 acres, continuously for twenty–four years. Then he set. in Puslinch, and bought the farm of 140 acres, where he still resides.

Alexander, b. and raised and educated in Scot., m. in Scot., Maggie Morrice, and came to Canada in 1880 with his father. He rented the old William Cleghorn farm of 120 acres, lots 8 and 9, con. 1, Div. E., which he purchased in 1896, and on which he still resides. Issue: Alexander, Jr., Jeanie, Mary E., Ethel, and Georgina.

James, Jr., and Alexander Lewis had a liberal education in Scot., and during their residence in Wellington Co., have been very successful. All due to their industry and perseverence. They are upright and respected citizens. They are Presbyterians, and in politics Liberals.

In Scot., the Lewis family have been tenants of Lord Aberdeen for many generations.
