KEARNS, J. M
. Barrister. The subject of this sketch, Mr. J. M. Kearns, was b. in the town
of Orangeville, where he received his primary education, later graduating from
Osgoode Hall, Toronto, as a barrister at law. He began the practice of his
profession in Arthur, in 1902, and is quietly, but surely, forging his way to
the front rank among the worthy young citizens of the town. From a professional
standpoint his practice is always on the increase, and he is winning favor with
his clients by his honest, straightforward methods and general reliability.
Mr. Kearns is an effective public speaker, presenting his case in a clear, lucid and convincing manner, and his services have been in demand during campaigns of the Conservative party. In the last campaign Mr. Kearns dealt particularly with the tariff issue and the Government railway policy, having given both questions a critical study. Mr. Kearns is a prominent member of the Methodist church, a member of the Quarterly Board, and the teacher of the Bible Class in the Sunday School. Personally, he stands high in public favor, and is always ready to assist in any laudable scheme of enterprise. From: Historical Atlas of the County of Wellington, Ontario.
