JOHNSON, Ronald , was b. Scot., 1826. He came to Canada in 1846 as a young man, and worked in Erin Tp. for some years. In 1851 he came to Arthur and took up the present homestead of 100 acres, lot 15, con. 10, which he cleared from the bush . For some years he was obliged to go back to the harvests in the south and east in order to earn money, and has made his present property of 300 acres by his own efforts. He is now retired form active work, and lives in a part of the house at the homestead with his son Angus. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. In 1861 he m. Jane McLellan, who is living, age 74. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are very active, and a bright couple for their years. Their children are: Alexander, U.S.A.; John and Peter in Arthur; Angus, on the homestead; Katie, now Mrs. John McLellan, N. Dakota.

Angus, b. in 1869, lives on the homestead, where he successfully carries on mixed farming. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. In 1898 he m. Annie McDougall, of Minto. Issue: Wilfred D., Irene, Jane and Mary Mildred.

Peter, b. 1867, lives upon and owns lot 11 con. 11, of Arthur. He carries on mixed farming, is very successful and much respected. In 1900 he m. Elizabeth Hamilton. Issue: Leslie Warden and Adolphus.
