JESSOP, Wesley
, was b. in Erin Tp., in 1873. The pioneer of the family, Humphrey Jessop, who
came out from Ireland, was one of the first settlers of Erin Tp. He located on
lot 29, con. 2, where his son Humphrey later resided, and which is now owned by
his grandson, Wesley Jessop. The pioneer d. about 1856 and his wife Margaret
Stevens survived until 1904.
Humphrey, the eldest son, succeeded to 100 acres of the original homestead, and Thomas, the youngest son, to the other 100 acres in the rear. Humphrey m. Miss Mary A. Grasley, dau. of the late John Grasley of Erin. Their family consists of: Mrs. John Lowrey, set. Erin; Mrs Edward Baldwin, set. Man.; Wesley, Mrs. Alex Grey, set. Erin. And Edward T., medical student Toronto. Mr. Jessop never sought or held office . He is now living retired in Fergus. Wesley own and occupies the homestead of 100 acres, lot 29, con. 2. He is Treasurer and Trustee of the school section, Sec'y-Treas, and Steward of the Methodist church, and a Liberal in politics. In 1900 he m. Miss Bertha Leslie. Issue: Earl, Elsie and Harvey.
