JACKSON, Thomas . The late Thomas Jackson, was b. in County Wicklow, Ireland. He m. Margaret Tomlinson, and came to Canada with his family in 1795, and set. in the county of Lanark. Issue: John, William, Jane, Mary, Ann, and Eliza; none of whom are living.

John Jackson, m. Margaret Thomlinson, a cousin. He came from Lanark Co., by way of Kingston, with his family of eight, and a span of horses. They took a boat to Hamilton, where they disembarked, and drove through the bush to Luther, in Wellington Co. This is said to have been the first team of horses in that township. 400 acres of land, lots 12, and 13, con. 4, were purchased from Brown Bros., and there he lived until his death in 1876, at the age of 64. His widow followed him in 1878, age 67. Mr. Jackson was a man of great strength , temperate in his habits, and possessed of great energy and ambition. He belonged to the English church, and was a Conservative. Issue: Thomas, William, John, Abraham (d.); Robert, Jonathan, Isabella, and Susan.

Thomas (d.), m. Eliza Williams (d.). Issue: John, Thomas, William, Robert, Elizabeth, and Margaret.

William, m. Anna B. Jackson, and set. in Luther. Issue: William, Arthur, Jennie, May. John, set. in Peel on lot 12, con. 12, and m. 1st Mary Kenney, who d. in 1887, age 27. Issue: Margaret, Matilda (d.); John, Susan and Annabella. Second wife, Mary Rogers. Issue: Jennie, Letitia, Viola, Hilliard, and Elsie.

John Jackson, Jr., was b. in Canada in 1874, and served in the Boer War in 1900, as farrier and shoeing smith. He is now running a general blacksmith shop at Alma, and having an expert knowledge of his trade, his services are much sought after. He m. Catherine Isabella Maud Ford, in 1901. He belongs to the English church, and is a Conservative. Issue: Mary, Agnes, Maud, Bell, and John Edward (d.). All at home.

Robert, son of John Jackson (d.), m. Elizabeth Church, and set. at Gordonville. Issue: Abraham, Lawrence, Leslie, Matilda, Margaret, and Ellen.

Jonathon, m. Letitia Church, whose family were early settlers in Luther, and set. at Parker, in Peel Tp. Issue: Annie (d.); Robert O., Annie May, Gilbert T., Isabella (d.); Margaret, Arnett R., and Forest C. Isabella m. John Duffy, and set. at Lindsay, Ont. Susan (d.), m. Robert Rose.
