INGLIS, Andrew
(d.), b. Ayrshire, Scot. 1802; d. 1880. He came to Canada in 1840, and set. in
Nassagaweya Tp., Halton Co., where he bought and cleared 200 acres of land. He
was a hard worker and a successful farmer. In religion he was a Presbyterian,
and politically a Liberal. Mr. Inglis never would consent to hold municipal
office. His issue were: Mrs. John McLennan, Iowa; Mrs. David Patterson, set.
Man.; John, set. Bruce Co.; James, on the homestead; Mrs. Alfred Kitchen,
Nelson Tp. Halton Co.; Elizabeth, unm. and Mrs. Ned Haines, Bruce Co.
James was three years old when he came to Puslinch Tp. He succeeded to the homestead at his father's death, and has increased it to 400 acres. He is a very successful farmer, a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. He m. Charlotte Dawson. Issue: James, in Man.; John, George, V.S. in Auburn, Maine; Walter, and Robert, at home. John, was b. in 1870, on the homestead. In 1901 he bought the Iddington estate of 100 acres, rear lot 36, con. 8, Puslinch Tp., where he has since lived.
