HEWITSON, James (d.), b. Cumberlandshire, Eng., 1837; d. 1879. He m. Nancy Jackson in Eng., who d. in 1878, age 38. They came to Canada in 1863 and set. in Guelph Tp., where he was engaged in farming until the time of his death. He was a member of the Church of England and was very much respected. Issue: Mrs. John Brydon, Edward (d.), Daniel, Mrs. Joseph Dennis, Mrs. Wm. Hannam, Edward J., Isaac, Mrs. Jerome Smith, and Mrs.. James Seviers.

Daniel, b. in Eng., came to Canada with his parents in infancy. He m. Elizabeth Bathgate. Issue: James W. and Stanley B. He owned a farm in Nichol for some years. but sold out there in 1902 and came to Eramosa, where he farms at present on lot 8, con. 2.

Edward J., m. Annie Harwood, and set. Pilkington. Issue: James M. and Mary E.

Isaac, unm., set. Manitoba.

The members of the family are all representative citizens in the localities where they have settled.
