HENDERSON Family, The. The late George Henderson was b. in Berwickshire, Scot., in 1781, and d. in Guelph Tp. in 1864. He m. Elizabeth Hewitt, in Scot. Issue: George (d. unm.); Mrs. Alexander McIntosh, Mrs. Wm. Whitelaw, Richard and Thomas.

Richard m. Mary McCorkindale. He d. age 36, and his widow m. John Fisk.

Thomas b. Berwickshire Scot. , 1832 , d. 1904. He was only an infant when his parents came to Guelph Tp. in 1833. Here he was brought up, and received his education at Cowan School with the other "Paisley Block" youths. He became a man of more than ordinary ability, which was fully evidenced by his success in life; while he never sought or held municipal office, few men were better known or more highly respected in Guelph Tp., where he spent most of his long useful life. His first business venture seems to have been the purchase of a farm near Elora, which he afterwards sold at a an advance of several times its purchase price. He then bought 104 acres lot 6, con. 2B., Guelph Tp., and later bought the old Wright farm, lot 7, con. 2B., containing 136 acres. He ran these farms very successfully for many years, raising some thoroughbred cattle, and the best of other stock, and was considered one of the most thorough farmers in Guelph Tp. In 1901 he retired from active business, and disposed of the two farms to his sons, George taking the Wright farm and John P. the homestead farm. He m. Margaret Keith. Issue: Mrs. John White, George, William, Thomas, Jr.; Mrs. Frank Forsythe, Mrs. George D. Hood, John P., Mrs. Simon Aitchison, Richard, Charles and Janet (d. young) . Of his family : George m. Flora White. He purchased the old Campbell farm of 100 acres on the 4th con., of Minto, and lived there seventeen years, after which he sold out and purchased the Wright farm in the "Paisley Block", where he has since retired. He has been in the Guelph Tp. Council since 1903. He has one son, Thomas K.

William m. Nina Brown. He is head cashier, C., B. and Q. Ry., at East St. Louis.

Thomas, Jr. m. Catherine Brett, set. Drayton.

John P. m. Janet Derby. He owns and lives on the old homestead, lot 6, con. 2B., purchased from his father in 1901. Issue: Thomas.

Richard, m. Pauline Oxby. He is a druggist at Drayton.

Charles m. Miss Limpert and is a dentist at Hespler.

The late Thomas Henderson was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, and in politics a Conservative.
