HARVEY, Major George.
This old pioneer was b. in Ireland in 1808. He came to Canada
in 1832 and purchased 100 acres, lot 9, con. 8, Guelph Tp. He served in the
Rebellion of 1837-8 and was for years connected with the militia. As a citizen
Major Harvey was very popular, being of a genial disposition, and possessing a
rare personality which drew people to him and made for him a large circle of
friends. He m. Jane Richardson, who d. in 1892, age 84. Issue: Mrs. Edward
Harland, Mrs. George Preston, Robert, Mrs. Henry Parsons, John, Rose, George,
Mrs. Arthur Kent and Gardner.
Robert m. first Emma Harland. Issue: Robert H., manager of Traders Bank, Elora. Second wife, Elizabeth Somerville. Issue: Mary, Jane R., Anna V., Barbara and Helen. John, m. Frances Parker.
