GRIEVE, William
(d.). This Mornington pioneer was b. in Ross-shire, Scot., in 1816, and came
to Mornington in 1854, being one of the first settlers in that township. He
purchased 200 acres of land and cleared it, and from a poor man became one of
the most substantial, as well as influential citizens in Perth Co. He m. Eliza
Fisher. Issue: William, Elizabeth, Ellen, John, James, Mary, David, Robert, and
Thomas. The members of this family are all representative citizens in the
localities where they have settled.
John became a resident of Minto some years ago, when he purchased 200 acres of land there. He farms on a large scale, and besides this, has invented a patented cutter which is now being introduced.
