GRANT, John
, while not a pioneer in Minto, is a progressive farmer, who settled in life
with nothing, and by his energy and good management has acquired one of the
best 200 acre farms in Minto, lots 31 and 32, con. 4, where he resides. He was
born in Haldimand Co., in 1855, but was raised in Huron Co. In 1881 he came to
Harriston, finding employment in the furniture factory at good wages. He saved
money enough to start him in farming, commencing on a farm adjoining Harriston.
In this venture he was successful, and later purchased "Cross Hill Farm," where
he now lives. He m. Sarah Davidson, of Howick. He is up-to-date in residence,
buildings and farm machinery, and is branching out into fine stock raising.
