GORDON, John Sr
. (d.), was b. in Scot., 1777, and d. Winterbourne, Ont., 1862.
He was a carpenter by trade, and pursued this trade at Elora after coming there
in 1834, and later in Waterloo Co. Some of the first buildings in both
localities were built by this pioneer builder and his son, John Gordon, Jr. At
this time there were few carpenters in the country. The latter was also a
cabinet maker and carpenter, and worked at his trades in company with his
father, and later on his own account for many years. He also owned a small farm
near Winterbourne, which he cultivated. Both he and his father were promoters
of the Pres. church at Winterbourne, and were Elders in the same. The late John
Gordon Jr., was b. in Scot., in 1806, and m. Frances Gordon at Elora in 1836.

, he accompanied his father to Winterbourne in 1838, and it was there that he
spent the balance of his long and useful life, passing way in 1892, aged 86

, William, Mrs. (Dr.) Douglas, Chicago; Albert, Henry, and Mrs. French, wife of
the barrister of that name in Prescott.
John 3 rd was b. in Elora in 1837, and raised in Waterloo Co. He followed farming there and in Nichol for many years, and is now retired and live with his son, Albert E., in Eramosa. Like his respected progenitors, he has always held the confidence and respect of the community Issue: Albert E., Mrs. William Metcalf, George, Mrs. Richard Elgie and Alma. Of this branch; Albert E. m. Rachel Scott. He owns and farms 85 acres, lot 14, con. 1, Eramosa. Issue: Charles E., and Walter S. George m. Eva McGill.
