FLATH, Adam (d.), b. Koenoig, Hessedarmstadt, Germany in 1826, d. in 1895, age 69. He was a cabinet maker and finisher by trade, and had worked on fine work in Cathedrals in Germany and Switzerland. He came to Canada with his brother William, worked for Jacques and Hayes in Toronto. In 1854, he moved the family to Maryborough, and purchased a farm. The previous owner Simmons, had a log house and small clearings made. Mr. Flat finished the clearing, and lived there until his death. He was a member of the Christian church, and a Reformer. He was Trustee of S.S. No. 17, for years, but never held other office. He m. Anna Betz in 1851, she d. 1899. Issue: Mrs. Chas. Burrows, Ionia, Mich.; Theodore, (d.) 1898, Drayton; Adam, Drayton; Lewis, Charles (d.) 1889, Drayton; William, Dakota; Mrs. J. N. Dales, Kingston; Anthon, a physician at Churches Ferry, N.D.; George, Grand Forks, N.D.; Emma, teacher in Alexandria High School; Frederick and Dr. Everon, Drayton. William, brother of Adam Flath, owned the Hatch farm, and is now living in Elmira, with his family.

Lewis, unm., b. on the present farm, attended school at Drayton, at S.S. No. 17, Rockwood Academy, and Fergus High School. He taught school in East Luther in 1876, and taught in Amaranth, Woolwich, Maryborough, and Wilmot townships, about nine years altogether. In 1880 he attended the Normal in Ottawa. Since 1889, he has been farming. He is a member of the Christian church, and a Reformer.

Frederick, has always lived on the homestead, except for a season in the West. He is a member of the Christian church and a Reformer. He has been twice married. His first wife was Mary Carpenter. Issue: Ernest, Eileen, and Verna and Velma, twins. Later he m. Elizabeth Pryne.

Frederick and Lewis work the homestead of 50 acres, lot 15, con. 11. They carry on mixed farming, and raise thoroughbred Jersey cattle.

Dr. Everon was educated at S.S. No. 17, and Drayton Public Schools, and the Harriston High School. He entered Toronto University Medical College in 1896, and graduated in 1900 and practiced at Chemsford until Jan., 1904. He then moved to Drayton and purchased the practice of Dr. Lucy, who moved to Guelph. He is a member of the Christian church, and a Reformer. He m. Mary A. B. Irwin of Chelmsford. Issue: Muriel Emma.
