FITZSIMMONS, John (d.), was b. Co. Armagh, Ire., 1819, and came to Canada 1845, set. first in Nassagewaya, and later in Eromosa, where he purchased 100 acres of land and lived until his death in 1901. He m. Mary Best, in Ire., in 1844. She d. in 1877. The late John Fitzsimmons started life in Canada without means, and by industry and good executive ability became a prosperous and influential citizen. He raised a large family, the members of which compose the very best citizenship wherever they have set. He was a lover of fine horses, and always kept the best. Issue: Elizabeth A., Isaac, Sarah, and John, on the homestead; James, and Mary, in Rockwood; Robert in St. Mary's, and Thomas, and Edward in Toronto.
