FITZPATRICK, Edmund , was b. in Eramosa, in 1836. He came to Luther in 1858 on his wedding trip, bringing his young wife through the bush on an ox cart, following the blazed path. When they reached the stream which runs through Mr. Fitzpatrick's farm, the oxen refused to go through, so they were obliged to wade the stream. He had to go to Salem with oxen for his grist, and has often walked in one day to Guelph.

Mr. Fitzpatrick had no money to start with. He had to struggle hard for a few years, and contend with the frost of the early days. In 1860 he was elected to the Council, and was returned for thirteen years. He was School Trustee for years, and is at present Tax Collector, which office he has held for 15 years. He has been a hard working man, very energetic and successful. He owned 350 acres of land, and had the first bank barn in the township. He is justly proud of the fact that be was never sued in his life. He is a Roman Catholic, and a Liberal.

In 1858, he m. Ann Pendergast, who d. in 1896, age 59. Issue: Mrs. J. P. Flemming, N.W.T.; Thomas, Mrs. McNamara, Arthur; Peter Luther; Margaret, Hamilton, and Patrick.

Peter, b. in 1865, lives upon and owns 100 acres, lot 6, con. 6, Luther. He carries on mixed farming and is successful. In 1892, he m. Catharine, fifth dau. of Charles McCarthy, Copetown. Issue: Charles, Francis, Sarah, and Peter.

Patrick, b. 1870, works the homestead, lot 5, con. 6, Luther. He carries on mixed farming; is a Roman Catholic, and a Liberal. In 1897, he m. Margaret, third dau. of Thomas Brennan, Arthur Tp. Issue: Edmund, and Margaret.
