FERGUSON, Malcolm, Sr. (d.), b. Argyleshire, Scot., in 18 d. Minto, 1879. He came to Canada in 1844; set. first in Erin, and then in Arthur in 1847. He had four sons: Donald, John, Malcolm and Archibald. John remained in Arthur. The father and other three sons came to Minto in 1853, and set. on the Gravel road, which they help "slash." They took up a large tract of land on both sides of the road. The older members of the family, excepting Malcolm, are dead.

Donald was b. in Argyleshire, Scot., in 1829, and in 1853 took up lot 97, con. D., 100 acres, where he lived his long and useful life, respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the Pres. church and was a sterling citizen. He m. Mary Morrison. Of this family on three live in Minto, John, Flora and Alexander. They are unmarried and live on the old homestead.
