DUTHIE, Walter , was b. London, Eng., in 1878, and is a son of Rev. W. N. Duthie, Rector at Hespeler, who came to Canada in 1866. Mr. Duthie is Manager of the Union Bank of Canada in Hillsburgh, Erin Tp. He is a member of the English church and a Conservative. He m. Miss Breckel, of Smith's Falls.

The Union Bank was established in Erin in 1902, and in 1905 the branch was started in Hillsburgh under the management of Mr. Duthie. The Union Bank was incorporated in 1865 under the Canadian Banking Act. It has over 100 branches, and is developing very fast under the general management of George A. Balfour. The total assets of the bank, July, 1905, were over $22,000,000; paid-up capital $2,500,000; reserved, $1,100,000. The head office is in the city of Quebec, and it is one of the most substantial and accommodating banks in Canada.
