DUNN, James D.
(d.), was b. in Aberdeenshire, Scot., in 1824, and d. 1886, aged
62. He came to Canada in 1872, settling in Salem, where he worked on a farm for
one year. He then came to Luther Tp. and took up 50 acres, south quarter of
lot 12, con. 3, and later bought 100 acres, and set. his son Arthur upon it. He
was a Liberal. In 1860 he m. Catherine Taylor. Issue: Arthur, James and John,
Man.; Alexander, clergyman, B.C.; George, East Luther, and Mrs. H. Grasley.
Arthur b. Aberdeenshire, Scot., 1862; came to Canada with his father, and assisted him in clearing the farm, which is now one of the best in the district. He has been councillor two years, Deputy Reeve two years, and Reeve two years. He has only had one contest during the entire time. He has recently been appointed Assessor and a J.P. Mr. Dunn is a member of the Presbyterian Church, and a Liberal in politics. In 1877 he m. Margaret Jamieson. Issue: Zella, Annie, Jessie, James, Alexander, Bella, Melville, Roy and Arthur.
