DUFF, William
, of Peel, was b. in Scot. in 1835, and came to Canada in 1856,
settling first in Perth Co. He came to Peel Co. in 1866, and set. on lot 5,
con. 9. When Mr. Duff first came to Canada, he worked as a labourer,
afterwards renting a farm in Guelph Tp. where he acquired about $600.00 in
stock. He owns 200 acres in Peel Tp., with modern buildings and well equipped
with fine stock and implements for farming and is one of the most successful
farmers in the
Tp. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. In 1866, he m. Agnes Campbell, who
d. in '95, age 52. Issue: Mrs. John Rich, Peel; Mrs. Rev. J. C. Wilson,
Acton; Alexander, on the homestead; Mrs. Edward Ellis, Peel; Mrs. C. C,
Sadler, Omaha; Samuel, in the N.W., and Edith, nurse in hospital at St. John,
N.B.
Alexander, on the homestead, is a successful and up-to-date farmer. He is a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. He m. Katharine McClaren. Issue: Agnes, Dorothy, Gordon, Kenneth, Anne, and Alexander E.
