DRYDEN, Walter C. , is a son of Walter Kerr Dryden, who was b. near Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scot., Mar. 27, 1827, and came to Canada in 1834.

Walter Kerr Dryden, was not only a very early pioneer of Gait, but has been a very successful business man, and is one of the best known men in the lumber business in the section.

Walter C. Dryden, was b., raised, and educated in Galt. In 1883, he came to Minto, and purchased 100 acres of land on lot 75, Con. C., on which he built a sawmill, and which he has operated very successfully ever since. He later purchased 250 acres, lot 77, con. C., and lot 79, con. D., and 50 acres lot 26, con. 12, the whole amount being 350 acres of land, in Minto Tp. Besides his extensive farming interests he still continues the sawmill business, and is one of the most progressive men of the township. From the time Mr. Dryden came first to Minto, he took a prominent position in the community, both commercially and politically. He has been Councillor, in Minto, for some years, having been elected two terms by acclamation. In politics, he is a strong Liberal, and in religion, he and his family are members of the Presbyterian church. He m. April 22, 1886, Margaret Kerr. dau. of Robt. Kerr, who was one of Minto's most respected pioneers. They have a son Percival.
