DOHERTY, Daniel , b. Co. Donegal, Ire. He was the fourth son of John, and Margaret Doherty of Ire. On the 8th of May, 1882, he m. Mary Diver, and on the 12th of the same month, sailed for Canada. He came to Streetsville, where he worked on the railway for a time, and then came to Erin, where he was in the employ of the C. P. R., for three years, worked as time-keeper for J. J. Ryan who had a contract to build the Baltimore and Ohio Ry. In 1889 he returned to Erin, and bought grain for about 13 years; and ran an elevator at Erin station. In 1899, he bought 98 acres, west half of lot 13, con. 10, Erin, where he has since lived, and carries on mixed farming. He was Councillor in Erin village for two years. He is a Roman Catholic in religion, and in politics an Independent Liberal, voting for the man, rather than the party. There were four children, Maggie, John, Charles, and Lillian.
