DODGE, George , was b. in Somerset Eng., in 1848. He came to Canada in l870, and set. in Arthur village, where he worked for some years at his trade as blacksmith. He then went to Brantford, where he stayed for some years, and then returned to Arthur and started a blacksrnith shop at Gordonville, which was the first blacksmith shop in that locality. He carried on business for 25 years, devoting his entire time and energy to it. He has been very successful, now owning property in Arthur Tp. assessed at $13,000, besides 100 acres in Luther, all of which he has acquired by his own efforts. He has been Secy, and Manager of the Presbyterian church, and is a Conservative in politics, and has been in the Council for 4 years. In 1873, he m. Margaret Paulin. Issue: James, in B. C.; George Jr., Frank, N. W. T.; Jessie, Leslie, and Millie at home.

George W., owns half of the homestead, lot 19, con.1 Arthur where he successfully carries on mixed farming. He is a Presbyterian, and a Conservative. In 1905, he m. Hattie Douglas.
