DIXON, J. R. M . The subject of this sketch is the son of the late Reverend James Dixon, rector of Aberhaseph Rectory, Newton, Montgomeryshire, Eng. He was educated at Shrewsbury, and, previous to coming to Canada, in 1884, he superintended a farm knows as the "Marsh", Rodington, Shrewsbury making a specialty of Shropshire sheep. He m. Miss Rose Holliday, dau. of the late Thomas Holliday of Guelph and is the owner of "Eborhurst," a beautiful place containing forty acres, situated a short distance west of Guelph city, where he lives, practically retired. Mr. Dixon followed farming for some years after coming to Canada, renting the Sorby farm, on the Waterloo road. He is a breeder of sable and white Scotch collie dogs. His dogs have taken prizes at Toronto, and other Exhibitions. He has always been interested in fine stock, and is considered an excellent judge of same. He has been a Director of the "Guelph Central Exhibition" for ten years, and its President in 1904-05.
