DAVIDSON, James , late of Nichol, was b. in Perthshire, Scot. He came to Canada in 1831, and after a short stay in Guelph set. In Nichol, on lot 7, con. 5, where he lived until his death at the age of 93. He brought very little money with him, but succeeded in accumulating considerable property, owning 300 acres in land. In the capacity of Councillor, Collector, Assessor and School Trustee for 20 years, he won the respect and good will of all. He was a Presbyterian, and was Elder in Melville church, Fergus. In political views he was a Liberal. He m. Jane Butchard, who d. at the age of 84. Issue: Mrs. Peter Noble, in Fergus; Mrs. John Cameron set in Nichol; Mrs. Charles Toton, set. In Walkerton: Mrs. P.G. Scott, set. In Colorado; Mrs. John Ingles, set. in Nichol; Peter, living; David (d.); John (d.); Alexander, m. Janet Cameron, set. in Elora; James, m. Jane Robinson, set. In Nichol.
