DAVEY, Samuel Reginald , one of the prominent young business men of Fergus, is the third son of Rev. Robt. Davey, who was b. in Cornwall, Eng., near Liskeard, in 1842, and at 22 years of age left Eng., and came to Canada. He followed farming for a time, and later attended Victoria College, Cobourg, where he was educated for the ministry. He had been stationed at Dundas, Brussels, Londesborough, Dungannon, Bervie, Lucan, Georgetown, Markdale, Chesley, Stoney Creek, Waterford, Port Dover from where he was superannuated after .35 years of ministerial life, and retired to a fruit farm at Beamsville.

Samuel Reginald Davey was b. at Dungannon, Bruce Co., and was educated at the different schools where his father was stationed, and at the Hamilton Collegiate Institute. He served his apprenticeship in Hamilton and attended the O.C. Pharmacy, graduating in 1904, and receiving, a gold medal in dispensing, Phm. B. In the fall of 1904, he bought out the drug business of Robert Glen, Fergus, which he has since carried on. He carries a large stock of drugs, stationary, fancy goods, wall papers, optical goods, and is an issuer of marriage licenses. He is also agent for the G. N. N. Telegraph, as well as steamship agent for the C. P. R. and Allan Lines. In:1905, he m. Mabel G., dau. of W. B. Smith druggist at Hamilton, whose father Henry Smith, was one of the very early settlers in Eramosa.
