CUSHING Maurice (d.), late of Nichol, was b. in Kerry Co., Ireland, in 18b8, and d. in 1878. He came to Canada, settling in Nichol, on lot 5, con. 5, in 1830. He also purchased lot 4, con. 4, owning in all, 214 acres. He was industrious, and in a quiet way, became prosperous. He was a Roman Catholic and a Conservative. He m. Mary Duggan, who d. in 1895, age 86. Issue: Rev. John, d.;Mary Ann, in the convent in Guelph; James, Honora, d.; Mrs. Patrick Neagle, set. in Nichol; Mrs. Wm. Weddick, set. in Pilkington; Maggie, sister in St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph; Rev. Daniel, Superior of St. Michael's College, Toronto. James Cushing, was b. on the homestead, and is the present owner of the property. He is one of the very progressive farmers in Nichol, up-to-date in every respect. He engages in mixed farming, and feeds cattle for export. He is a Roman Catholic, and a Conservative. He m. Margaret Sullivan. Issue: Blanche, John, Marguerite, Daniel, Joseph, Francis, and Basil, all at home.
