CLARK, William (d.), b. in Aberdeen, Scot. He came to Canada in 1858, with his wife and family, and set. in West Garafraxa, where he bought 100 acres, east half lot 16, con. 8, and cleared it from the bush. He was a School Trustee for twenty years, a Presbyterian in religion, and a Liberal in politics. He m. Christian Strachan, who d. about 1891, and his widow some five years later; both are buried in Belsyde Cemetery. The family consisted of James, Mrs. John Bayne, set. Hamilton; Mrs. Chas. Foster, set. Galt, and Mrs. Joseph Rettie.

James, the only son, b. in Scot., 1855. As soon as e became old enough, assisted his father on the farm, upon which he now resides. He owns 175 acres in all, and has built a large, brick residence, and a fine bank barn. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. He m. Martha, dau. of John Hall of West Garafraxa. Issue: Albert, Flora M., Bertha, Lillie R. B., and Ethel L. Mr. Clark and his son Albert are large farmers, and are considered to be among the best and most successful in the township.
