CHURCH, W. J.
, was b. in Arthur village, 1866. He is a son of the late George Church of
Arthur, who carrier on a blacksmithing business for some years, starting in
1860. In 1885 be retired, and his son, W. J., took the business, which he has
since carried on. He has also practiced as a veterinary surgeon, for which he
has been granted a license by the Government. He is a breeder of high-class
hackneys, Shire and Clyde horses, and has dealt in horses extensively all of
his life. He also owns and works 50 acres just outside of the corporation.
He has been very successful, and is considered one of the shrewd men of the
town. He has been a Chairman of the School Board, and is a, member of the
English church, and a Conservative. In 1895 he m. Bella Ballintine. Issue:
Harold, William Gordon, and Bessie.
