CAMPBELL, John (d.), b. Grenville Co., Ont., 1829; d. 1874. He came to Maryborough Tp. in the early fifties, when the country was now and wild. He purchased 100 acres which he cleared, and from a small beginning became a prosperous citizen. He and his family were members of the Church of Eng., and in politics be was a Conservative. He m. Mary Shields. Issue: Robert, Mrs. Albert Rolls, James, Mrs. George Boyle, and Wellington.

James, son of the late John Campbell, was b. in Maryborough, where he has always lived and followed farming. He m. first Kate Hughes. Issue: Walter. For his second wife, Mary Robb. Issue: Stanley, Margaret and Della. Mr. Campbell is a member of the Presbyterian church, in which he takes an active interest. In politics he is an Independent.
