CALLAWAY, David (d.), was b. Devonshire, Eng., 1821. In 1842 he came to Canada, set. first near Toronto, where he m. Mary Luxton, and in 1856 they moved to Maryborough Tp., where he purchased 100 acres of bush land on con. 10. This farm he cleared and improved, selling it ten years later, when he purchased a store in what was then called Hustonville, situated about one mile south of where Moorefield now stands. He was appointed postmaster and ran the store and P.O. for twenty years. He d. in l892. They had a family of twelve children. Thomas, the eldest son, was brought up in Maryboro and Minto, and he lived in those townships ever since. In 1897 he purchased 140 acres of land adjoining the corporation of Harriston, known as "Riverdale Farm," and carries on the dairy business, supplying Harriston with milk. He m. Margaret Bailie.
