BURR, Robert.
The pioneer of the Burr family, now residing on the old homestead, was
Robert Burr, who came from Scot. in the year 1846, and worked for some time in
the vicinity of Fergus, and in the early sixties purchased 100 acres in the
rear of the farm now owned jointly by his sons John and William.
Mr. Burr and his wife, whose name was Margaret Wilson, experienced all the labor and hardships of the early pioneers during life. He was Assessor and Collector of the township of West Garafraxa. He died in 1895, leaving four children: John, Margaret, William, and Mrs. DeGuerre, who resides in Guelph. John, Margaret and William are on the homestead with their mother, who is still living. John is at present, and has been for many years, the Township Collector. The Burrs are staunch Presbyterians and Liberals, and are of a solid, respectable and prosperous type.
