BOYLE, William
(d.), came from Ireland about 1836, and was one of the early settlers of
WestGarafraxa. He acquired much land during his lifetime, and besides helping
hissons to farms, personally owned 500 acres of land when he d. in 1898. He
isburied by the side of his first wife, Maria Kennedy. His second wife was
MariaGilchrist, who before her marriage to Mr. Boyle was Mrs. Smith. Her son
WilliamSmith owns the west half of lot 4, con. 7, and both reside on the old
WestGarafraxa homestead with Alfred Boyle.
Alfred Boyle owns 200 acres of land in West Garafraxa and 50 in East Luther.The homestead which he occupies is replete with a fine stone residence, finebarns, etc. He also owns town lots in Port Arthur, and owns conjointly with hisbrother Adam a section of land in the wheat best in the North-West. Adam, b. in West Garafraxa, resides immediately opposite the homestead inwhich he was b. in a large mansions, with buildings and barn in keeping. Heowns 500 acres of land, consisting of 300 acres in East Garafraxa; 100 acres inEramosa. He is a large buyer of stock, and both he and his brother Alfred farmon a large scale, and are reputed among the wealthiest men in theneighbourhood. Mr. Boyle is a Congregationalist in religion, and a Conservativein politics. In 1899 he m. Jennie Duffield. Issue: William G. and Muriel E.
