BOYD, Thomas
, late of Pilkington, was b. in Glasgow, Scot., and d. in 1891, at the age of
67. He was a weaver by trade, and came to Canada in 1828, settling at King, in
Vaughan Tp. In 1859 he removed to Pilkington and purchased 300 acres, lots 1, 2
and 3, con. 6, where he lived until his death. Mr. Boyd was a man of strong
convictions, a Presbyterian in his religious views, and in politics a Liberal.
He m. Ann Compton, who d. in 1896, at the age of 63. Issue: Ann, Jeanette,
George, Thomas (d.), William and Mesena. Ann m. George Cook, set. in Kingston;
Jeanette is on the old homestead; George is the owner of 94 acres of the old
homestead, lot 2, con. 6. He follows mixed farming, and feeds cattle for
export. His stock consists of grade cattle and Yorkshire hogs. He is one of the
leading men in his neighbourhood; a Methodist, and in political views a
Liberal. He is unm. William m. Miss Scarff and set. in Essex; Mesena m. Rev.
Allan Clark, a Methodist minister in the U.S.
