BOND, John
. This respected citizen of Puslinch, is a son of Richard Bond and
Catherine Mallet, and was b. in Devonshire, Eng., in 1834, and came in Canada
with his parents in 1839, when only five years of age. The family were
pioneers in Beverley, and from a small beginning, became prosperous and
influential citizens of the locality. Issue: William, Dumfries Tp., Richard
(d.) was a farmer in Puslinch, on the farm where his son now lives; Henry
(d.), Beverley; James (d.), merchant in Hamilton; Edwin (d.), merchant
Sheffield, Wentworth county; Josiah, retired, in U.S.; Mrs. Archibald
Henderson (d.); Mrs. George Paddock (d.); and John, the subject of this
sketch, who m. Elizabeth Ricker, in 1863, and the same year came to Puslinch,
where he has since resided. He owns 160 acres, lot 6, con. 2, and is one of
the substantial farmers of the township. The family are members f the
Methodist church, and in politics Mr. Bond is a Conservative. Issue: Ann
Bella, nurse in Boston; Mrs. Wm. J. Little, Mrs. Clark, in Vancouver; Ettie,
nurse in Boston; Eleanor, at home: Christopher R., and Wilfrid Irwin, at
home.
