What the site is :
It's for family trees or historical data for people with Wellington
County connections in their ancestry.
Benefits :
You don't need to spend time
1) learning how to make web pages;
2) finding webspace;
3) contending with file transfer programs to upload the data to your
web site or
4) keeping track of another set of passwords.
Much more information can be posted here than at a standard query site.
How to put your branch or tree on-line:
Just send it in an email here to the
Requirements :
1) make a report in your family tree program and attach it to an email. Output can be in the form of a gedcom, .doc, .html, .rtf or .paf (from the LDS's Personal Ancestor File program). It's possible to make a selection from some pages and then copy & paste into your email for a plain text version. As long as I don't have to buy the program, other file formats may be ok as well. A quick note to me [Gerald Dunnill] in advance would be helpful in that case to correlate the programs and formats.
2) Would appreciate maintaining privacy concerns. For example, no birthdates for people who are still living.
3) For consistency and general viewing ability, the resulting web files will be in the .pdf format, so a .pdf reader such as Adobe's Acrobat Reader will be necessary. It's quite possible you already have it, however, it is free and available at
Adobe.com
4) If you want to update your file later, that's fine, just send it along whenever it's ready, and it'll be taken care of.
