The latest news of an extremely pleasant nature of the fact that Mr. P.C. Macnee, barrister of Pleton, Ontario, eldest son of Mr. Duncan Macnee of Perth, has deserted the bachelor state and has succumbed to that great seducer of mankind, cupid’s dart.  Mr. Macnee has just been married at Victoria, B.C. to Miss Bennett of that city and formerly of Dundas, Ontario.  Our oldest slipper is hurled at the bridegroom and his bride and we wish them many happy days.

On Wednesday forenoon a number of friends gathered at the house of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meighen to witness the marriage of their second daughter Bella to John M. Poole, proprietor of the “Star”.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. H. Scott, Presbyterian minister after which the company sat down to a sumptuous repast prior to the newly joined couple setting out on their wedding journey.  A handsome and numerous lot of presents were given the bride by her friends and acquaintances in town and elsewhere.

Lanark Links:  At Fallbrook on Tuesday at 2:00 pm Miss Maggie Anderson of that place was married to Mr. McNabb of North Bay .  Rev. Mr. Anderson of Middleville officiated.

W. Bryson Magee and Miss M. Watchorn, both of Merrickville were united in marriage in that village by Rev. E. (?) L. (?) Houston, rector in that church.  The bride was supported by the groom’s sister Ida Magee and Miss McPherson while John Meikle of Smith’s Falls and G. L. Putnam acted as best men.  The bride is a long time resident of Lanark Village .

A very enjoyable event took place at the residence of John Mair, Lanark Village on Tuesday afternoon last, 14th Oct., at 5:00 pm which robbed our village of one of its fairest daughters in the person of Carrie Mair, only daughter of Mr. John Mair to Mr. A. H. Glass, bookkeeper for Messrs Wylie and Co., Almonte.  He is a young man popularly known and highly esteemed in that town.  The wedding was conducted quietly there being present only the nearest friends.  Rev. W. N. Bessey, pastor of the Congregational Church performed the marriage ceremony.  The bride was neatly dressed in a drab traveling suit and was attended by Miss Pollock of Almonte and Miss Dulmage of Appleton while the groom was supported by Messrs. Newman of Almonte and John Mair, brother of the bride.  Mr. and Mrs. Glass left shortly after the ceremony on their wedding tour driving to Carleton Place where they took the train for Montreal and other points.  Several guns were fired off in honor of the occasion.  The presents to Mrs. Glass were numerous and costly and of a great variety coming from Lanark, Almonte, Carleton Place, Perth, Toronto, Manitoba and other places.

Moulton-Lennon—Married, on the 28th Oct., by Rev. W. Somerville at the Methodist Parsonage, Birtle (?), Manitoba, Mr. Joseph Moulton of Rossburn, Manitoba to Miss Sarah Lennon of Lanark.

Mr. J. Wilson has the honor of conveying to Perth two of our most respected young men, Charles McIlraith, Jr., and his cousin John Roberts.  The former is on his way to Glengarry where he means to cross the matrimonial line on Wednesday at the residence of the bride’s parents.  The happy lady of his choice is Kate McLeod who is to be assisted by her younger sister Bella McLeod while Charlie will be supported by his cousin John Roberts. 

The Hamilton Herald announces the marriage of William A. Allan of the Merchants Bank, Winnipeg to Maud Roberts, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. D.E. Roberts of Hamilton, by the Rev. Mr. Boville, Baptist minister.  The bridal couple left the next morning for a trip through the western states.  Mr. Allan is a son of Mr. William Allan of the Scotch Line.

WE take pleasure in announcing the marriage of T.A. Code, Mayor of Perth, to one of Ottawa’s most popular daughters, Miss Jennie Leslie daughter of Mr. John Leslie Esq., a leading jeweler of Ottawa.  The ceremony was performed at “Kininvie” the residence of the bride’s parents.  Rev. Dr. Forries of Knox Presbyterian Church.  The marriage was a very quiet one only the immediate friends of both the contracting parties being present.  The bride had for her assistants two young girls, Irene Leslie and May Cameron while R. G. Code, barrister, did similar duty for his brother the groom.  The presents to the bride were numerous and handsome.  After the usual wedding meal the bride and groom left on their bridal tour at 5 pm for Boston, New York, Philadelphia and other U.S. cities.

Port Elmsley—One of the great events of the season was the wedding in the west end at the residence of H. N. Dunham.  The guests assembled at 4:00 Wednesday last week to witness the ceremony which was performed by Rev. Mr. Dowler, Methodist minister of Lombardy when Annie Dunham of this place and Mr. Weaver of Winchester were made one after which tea was served.  A very pleasant evening was spent about 40 being present.  Next day the happy couple left by the 4:00 express for their new home, carrying with them the best wishes of the community.
