O’Brien-Flanagan—Married, in Kingston by Rev. Bishop O’Brien, on Wednesday, 18th April, Mr. M.E. O’Brien, Esq., barrister, Prescott, formerly of Perth to Miss Annie Flanagan, of Kingston.

Another article, in the April 27, 1877 newspaper:  Matrimonial—This morning one of those ceremonies which always make such a flutter in social and society circles took place in St. Mary’s Cathedral in the marriage of Miss Annie E. Flanagan, the amiable and accomplished daughter of our city clerk, to Mr. O’Brien, barrister of Prescott.  A great many friends and admirers of the young couple assembled in the cathedral some time before the wedding took place and where they patiently awaited the event that took place.  The ceremony was performed at 9:00 am by Bishop O’Brien, assisted by the Rev. Fathers of Brockville and O’Donnell of Prescott, Vicar General Fourilly of Brockville and Father Higgins of Kingston.  The groom and his supporters, Dr. Buckley of Prescott and Mr. M. Flanagah, Jr., reached the cathedral first and shortly afterwards the bride and bridesmaids Misses Flanagan and O’Brien, took their places at the altar and the nuptials were completed.  The relatives of the bride and bridegroom were there in large numbers.  The choir sang beautifully, rendering the service much more interesting and impressive.  The bride was dressed in sky blue silk with white muslin and pink trimmings.  The bridesmaids were attired in white trimmed with pink and blue satin.  The wedding party partook of a wedding breakfast at the residence of Mr. M. Flanagan, Esq., father of the bride, and left on the afternoon train for Prescott.  Kingston Whig

Another article on this marriage, in the Sept. 28, 1877 Perth Courier:  An interesting event in the shape of a marriage ceremony took place on Tuesday afternoon last at the residence of our respected postmaster, Mr. Thomas Cairns, Esq., whose eldest daughter Miss Mary J. Cairns, was united in the happiest of marital ties to Rev. W. S. Jamieson, B. A., Carleton Place, in the presence of a large number of relatives of both parties.  The ceremony was performed by the C. Methodist pastor here, Rev. Mr. Dyre, assisted by the resident clergyman, Rev. Mr. Frankman.  The bride, who is deservedly popular among the large circle of friends and acquaintances received many valuable presents as a token of their regard for her and the happy couple on their departure from town were accompanied to the station by a host of well wishers, all who desired of the newly wedded pair that they might be happy.
