E. L. Jardine Dies Suddenly Had been a resident of Tweed for the past
16 years where he operated hardware store The death of E(dward) L(awrence)
Jardine on Saturday morning, July 30th, at Dalhousie Lake, Lanark County, was a
great shock to his family and friends. He had been in good health and was
suddenly stricken while enjoying a summer vacation.
The late Mr. Jardine had been a resident of Tweed for the
past 16 years, when he purchased the former Myles Hardware store. Priror to that
time he had operated a machine shop and garage in Ethel, Ontario for 23
years. He retired from business life about 13 years ago, turning over the
store to his sons, and during the summers, he and his wife enjoyed camping in
their cabin trailer at various lakes in Eastern Ontario.
Born in Lavant Township. Lanark County, 74 years ago, the
late Edward Lawrence Jardine was a son of Antoine Desjardine and the former
Janet Closs. He was married to the former Eva Jean Stead, who survives, along
with two sons and a daughter: Lorne and Leslie of Tweed,
and Mrs. Robert King (Helen) of Peterborough; four grandchildren, Jimmie and
Maureen King, Larry and Donnie Jardine, along with one sister, Mrs. Robert
Simpson (Louise) , Arnprior, and three brothers, David of Flower Station;
Robert M., Stonecliffe , Ont., and Randolph.
The late Mr. Jardine was a member of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, Tweed, and St. John's Lodge 284, Massondina, at
Brussels, Ont. Interment was at White's Cemetery,Poland , Dalhousie Twp. Lanark
County .
