are some of the BMD’s, and miscellaneous Newspaper Items I have come across
while researching my family tree. Some
items were difficult to read, even with a magnifying glass, so I have added a
“( )” or “?” around the letter, word or date that I am unsure of and
have added what I think it looks like. If
you see in brackets (rest was cut off) that just means, that a portion of it was
cut off by accident, when the page was copied.
I have highlighted the families (the ones that I know of), which are
connected to ours by using Bold Type. In brackets
(after the item), is the date the article was placed in the newspaper.
I’ve been working on this quite a bit, so don’t be surprised if you
find some typo’s. Good luck in
your search.

MARRIAGES…
ALLEN – HOGAN
MANY ATTEND S. FALLS WEDDING – Of interest to many in Perth was the
wedding of Lois Therese, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hogan, and
Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Allen, in St. Francis de Sales church in
Smiths Falls on Jan 7. Very Rev.
J.T. Hanley officiated. The bride,
given in marriage by her father, was charming in a gown of chalk velvet embossed
taffeta, fashioned with fitted bodice and pleated bustle, and bouffant skirt
extending into a long train. A long
embroidered lace veil fell from a lace coronet.
She carried a mother of pearl prayer book with satin streamers entwined
with orchids and bouvardia. Her only
ornament was a double strand of pearls, the gift of the groom.
The bride’s attendants all wore lovely floor length gowns, styled with
bouffant skirts and a headdress matching their costumes.
Miss Mary Ahern, as maid of honour, chose an orchid taffeta model and
carried a nosegay of yellow carnations, poms and roses.
The bridesmaids, Miss Rosalyn Simpson, of Carleton Place was wearing pink
brocaded taille?; and Miss Margaret Horrigan’s frock was turquoise georgette.
Little Miss Marylin Allen, niece of the groom, as miniature bride, was
also lovely in white organza, a replica of the bride’s costume, including
headdress and tiny adorned prayer book. Mr.
Brian Coyne was groomsman and the ushers were Messrs. Vincent Allen and Edmund
Powell. Following the ceremony a
reception and dinner was held at Trinity hall.
Receiving the many guests, the bride’s mother chose a black frock
accented with pink and corsage of
Columbia
roses. Later, the young couple left
on a trip to
Montreal
. For travelling the bride donned an
orchid crepe dress and matching accessories.
On their return the bride and groom will reside in
Ottawa
. Other out of town guests at the
wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hogan, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hogan, Mr. and Mrs.
Michael Hogan and Mrs. And Mrs. Herbert Noonan, all of Perth; Mr. and Mrs.

BURKE – HOGAN
White hydrangea and fuchsia flocks formed the setting for the wedding in
St. John’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 24th, when Rev.
Father Meagher united in marriage Mary Helen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Hogan, to Richard James, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burke, all of Perth.
Miss Shirley Haughan presided at the organ and during Nuptial Mass.
Thomas Brady tendered beautifully appropriate Hymns, including On This
Our Wedding Dan and Oh Lord We Are Not Worthy.
The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown which
featured a bodice of lace over satin and Peter Pan collar.
The full nylon skirt had a double net with appliqué designs.
Her fingertip veil of tulle illusion had matching appliqués and fell
from a tiara of lace and pearls. She
carried a bouquet of red and whit Sweetheart roses, ?, and maiden hair fern.
Her only ornament was a double strand of pearls.
The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Arthur Pennett, as matron of
honour, and Miss Vietta Burke, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid.
The wore similar gowns of yellow and blue net with inserts of lace and ?
bodices. The ? were matching and
they wore ? and net headdresses and ?, yellow, blue and white carnations and
baby ?.Little Mareutte Allaert made a ? flower girl in blue net with Peter Pan
collar trimmed with white lace and inserts of ? full skirt.
Her ? of matching net and ? miniature bouquet ?, the attendants Mr. Ray
White? Was groomsman and the ushers were Carl Hogan and ? Hanely?
Following the ceremony a reception and dinner was held at the residence
of Mrs. Anderson, Scotch Line. Receiving
the guests the bride’s mother chose a Queen Elizabeth blue dress with navy
accessories and a corsage of rose carnations.
The groom’s mother wore a powder blue eyelet dress, white accessories
and a corsage of red roses. Later
the young couple left by car for a short trip through the States.
For travelling the bride wore a powder blue sheer dress with full skirt,
white accessories and corsage of pink carnations.
Mr. and Mrs. Burke will reside in
Perth
. Prior to the wedding the bride was
treated With many showers. The girls
of the fitting department of the Perth Shoe Co., had a kitchen shower at the
home of Mrs. Thomas Brady. Mrs. ?
Northwick, Misses Rita McNamara, and Nora Lally entertained at a miscellaneous
shower at the latter’s home. Miss
Eileen McVeety was hostess at a miscellaneous shower at the latter's home.
At each occasion the bride was presented with a lovely corsage.
Mrs. Thomas Hogan entertained at a trousseau tea Wednesday, July 21st,
afternoon and evening, in honour of her daughter.
Miss Hogan wore a turquoise dress of nylon jersey and pink carnations,
while Mrs. Hogan received in navy crepe and rose carnations.
Mrs. Richard Burke, mother of the groom, received in navy crepe also and
she wore rose carnations. The tea
room was decorated with pink and white streamers hanging? From the ceiling to a
table with sweet peas and candles. Presiding
at the tea table in the afternoon were Mrs. Sam Cordick and Mrs. Clayton Farnel;
in the evening Mrs. Herb Noonan and Mrs. Mac. Hogan.
Those assisting at the tea were Eileen McVeety, Peggy Waite, Viola?
Burke, Kaye Bosthwick?, Peggie Hogan, Francis? King, Vera Lally, Cathy Noonan,
Mac Brady and Millie Pennett. (

DEWITT – HOGAN
On Wednesday morning the 17th inst., St. John’s Church was
the scene of a happy and pretty event, when the Rev. Father Davis joined in
wedlock Mr. William Dewitt, son of Mr. John Dewitt, Elliott, and Miss Mary A.
Hogan, only daughter of Mr. Richard D. Hogan, third line Bathurst.
Miss Ida Dewitt, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid, and Mr. Daniel
Hogan, the bride’s brother, was groomsman.
The wedding party entered the church to the music of a favorite,
appropriate march, played by the organist of the church.
The bride was gowned in cream Eolienne, over taffeta silk, the trimmings
being of silk lace shirring, and was a picture of beauty.
She carried white roses. Miss
Ida Dewitt wore white silk voile over taffeta, with trimmings of silk appliqué
and
Brussels
net, with hat to match. The
reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents after the church
services were ended, and the young couple were assured of the good wishes
following them to their new home. The
wedding breakfast was served in the dining room which was tastily decorated for
the happy occasion. The presents
were very numerous, and were a true index to the high regard of their friends.

DOCKRILL – HOGAN
A quiet but pretty wedding took place in
St. John’s
church, by Rev. Father Carey, on Tuesday morning, Nov. 26th, when
Mary Ethel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Hogan,
Perth
, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr. Merton Elzwood Dockrill, son
of Mr. and Mrs. John Dockrill, Port Elmsley.
The bride looked charming in a suit of seal brown broadcloth with hat to
match, and wore a black fox fur, the gift of the groom.
They were unattended, the witnesses being Mr. and Mrs. Mack Hogan.
After the wedding ceremony the bridal party drove to the home of the
bride’s parents where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of.
The happy couple left on the
seven o’clock
train for
Ottawa
and
Montreal
. The bride was the recipient of
many useful and costly gifts, consisting of furniture, cut glass, china,
silverware, and many checks, which showed the esteem in which she is held.
On their return they will reside at Port Elmsley where the groom is a
prosperous farmer. (

DOYLE – WILSON
St. John the Baptist Church, Perth, was the scene of a charming wedding
on Saturday morning October 19th, at eight o'clock of Miss Margaret Helen Wilson
only daughter of Mrs. Roy Wilson and the late Mr. Wilson, to Mr. Ellard Patrick
Doyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Doyle, Wilson Street West.
Rev. Father G. O'Hearne officiated at the ceremony in the presence of a
large gathering of friends and relatives. The
bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Lloyd Hartney of
Toronto
, and was attended by Miss Anna Wilson as bridesmaid while Mr. Andrew Doyle,
brother of the groom, acted as groomsman. The
bride looked lovely in her gown of wine colored chiffon velvet made on long
graceful lines, trimmed with small covered buttons on the sleeves and down the
back. The neck of the dress was made
quite high, and a hand of diameate? was the trimming and her other accessories
matched. She carried a bouquet of
Pernean? roses. The bridesmaid was
attractive in her gown of maroon blue chiffon velvet, designed on high lines
with a pleated shoulder cape which was fastened with two small brilliant clips.
She wore a turban hat, made of the same material as her dress, with a
small veil. She wore gloves and
carried Talisman roses. For
travelling, the bride wore a woollen cloth plaid dress made on simple lines and
trimmed with brown velvet. Her coat
was of an English brown cloth, made on sports style and her accessories to match
were brown. Mrs. Wilson, mother of
the bride, wore a lovely dress of wine colored crepe with a black ? hat.
During the ceremony Miss Veronica Foy sweetly sang solos.
Later a reception was held at the Birkacre Inn for the immediate
relatives and friends. The happy
young couple left by motor for
Toronto
and
Detroit
for their honeymoon and on their return will take up residence in
Perth
. The bride was the recipient of
numerous lovely gifts including a lamp and two pictures from the Children of
Mary. Those from out of town at the
marriage were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hartney and two sons Thomas and John of
Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. J. Carty and daughter of
Westport
and Miss Mary Sequin of
Ottawa

HOGAN – BENNETT
The popular young people well known in Perth and vicinity in the persons
of Miss Margaret Bennett, second daughter of Mrs. Felix Bennett, Mill street,
and Mr. William Hogan, son of Mr. Michael Hogan and the late Mrs. Hogan were
united in marriage at six o’clock on the morning of last Monday in St.
John’s R.C. Church, Rev. J.T. Hogan performed the ceremony.
The bride was assisted by her sister Miss Mary Bennett.
The groomsman was Mr. Frank Hogan brother of the groom.
Both the bride and bridesmaid were similarly attired in navy blue
taffeta, with black hat and each carried a bouquet of asters.
At the conclusion of the ceremony at the church the wedding party motored
to the family home were a wedding breakfast was served to the guests numbering
twenty-six. Afterwards Mr. and Mrs.
Hogan motored to
Smiths
Falls
from where they left by train for
Ottawa
and other points on their honeymoon. Going
away the bride wore a navy blue serge suit and taupe feather hat.
After their wedding trip they will reside on
Drummond street
. A large variety of wedding gifts
were tendered to the bride including several cheques.
On Wednesday of last week a shower in honor of the bride was given at the
home of Mrs. Troy in the presence of thirty-five girl friends. (

Hogan, and witnesses by a goodly number, the wedding party went to the bride’s
home where a wedding dinner was partaken of by twenty-five.
Mr. and Mr. Hogan left on the
noon
train for
Toronto
and
Detroit
and on their return will reside on the 3rd line
Bathurst
where the groom is a prosperous farmer. Numerous
and costly presents were received, including furniture, silverware, cheques and
linen. The groom’s present to the
bride was a set of grey fox furs. The
many friends of the young couple join in wishing them many years of happy wedded

The bridesmaid, Miss Blanche Farrell, sister of the bride, wore a suit of
Belgian blue, with black hat, and Mr. Thomas Hogan, brother of the groom, was
best man. During the offertory Miss
Florence Farrell, cousin of the bride, sang Millard’s “Ava Marie.”
After the ceremony the happy couple accompanied by their immediate
relatives, left for the bride’s home where a sumptuous wedding repast was
served, and during which the groom responded to the guests’ toast of long life
and prosperity. Numerous and costly
presents were received including two pictures from the Sodality Children of
Mary, of which the bride has been a member for years, and the groom’s gift to
the bride was a set of mink furs, to the bridesmaid, a sunburst of pearls and to
the best man, a pair of gold cuff links. Mr.
and Mrs. Hogan left on the

and was performed by Rev. Father Hogan, many being present on the happy
occasion. The bride wore a gown of
chorus satin and large picture hat with gold lace trimmings, carrying a shower
bouquet of white roses and maiden hair fern.
Miss Mar Furlong was bridesmaid and wore a gown of old rose silk crepe
with trimmings of hand embroidered silk and hat to match.
Mr. Patrick Hogan, of the Merchants Bank, Renfrew, brother of the groom,
was groomsman. Following the
ceremony a scrumptious wedding breakfast was partaken of at the house of the
bride’s parents by guests numbering thirty-five.
The table decorations were pink and white asters and overgreen.
The presents were numerous and costly.
Including cut glass, silverware and furniture, also a number of cheques.
The bride was a recipient of two beautiful pictures from the Children of
Mary, of which she was a member. The
groom’s present to the bride was a handsome set of black fox furs; to the
bridesmaid, a pearl ring, and to the groomsman, a gold watch lob.
The happy couple left on the
noon
train on a honeymoon trip to
Toronto,
Buffalo
and
Niagara
and on their return will reside on the Scotch Line.
The bride’s travelling suit was apple green velour with black velvet
hat. (

A quiet wedding was solemnized at Perth on Wednesday evening August 14th,
by Rev. Dawson D. Elliott when Kathleen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rodford,
Running Avenue, Smiths Falls, and Mr. J.T. Hogan, son of Mrs. James Hogan and
the late Mr. Hogan, of Smiths Falls were united in marriage.
The young couple were attended by Miss Ida Fitzgerald and Mr. Edwin?
Giff, both of Montague. After the
ceremony, they returned to
Smiths
Falls
, where a wedding supper was served, at the home of the groom’s mother, Miss
Madeline Evoy assisting the hostess in serving.
Later the happy couple, and the guests, were pleasantly entertained at
the home of the bride’s parents. Mr.
and Mrs. Hogan will reside in
Smiths
Falls

HOGAN-RYAN
Under the happiest conditions the wedding took place last Wednesday
morning of Dr. John T. Hogan and Miss Nora Ryan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Matthew Ryan of
Smiths
Falls
. The ceremony took place at
8:30 o’clock
in St. Francis de Sales church and was performed by Rev. Father Kelly, assisted
by Rev. Father Hogan of
Perth
, uncle of the groom. The interior
of the church had been artistically decorated by a number of young girl friends
of the bride and on every band as she approached the alter she was surrounded by
a wealth of beautiful flowers. A
fairer bride ne’er was seen in the church as she entered and came down the
aisle with her brother while the great organ pealed out “Here Comes the
Bride”, states the Record. She was
dressed in carmeuse? Satin, draped with draped with princess lace, wore a veil
and carried a shower bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley.
A pretty incident took place after she had reached the alter and before
the ceremony when she was crowned with orange blossoms by the President of the
Sodality Society of the church. She
was given in marriage by her father and was attended by her sister, Miss Mae
Ryan who was gowned in blue silk matoor? Crepe, draped with gold lace.
She wore a large black velvet had and carried pink roses.
The groom was assisted by his brother, Mr. Patrick Hogan, of Renfrew.
The ushers were Mr. J.J. Gardiner, Mr. Theodore Frost and Mr. Clifford
Bissell. The church was filled to
overflowing, many standing out on the greensward to await the event.
During the very impressive ceremony Miss Mona Shanks, the bride’s
cousin, sang very sweetly as did also Mrs. Muldoon and Mrs. Cuddy.
From the church, automobiles and carriages conveyed the
three score
guests to the handsome home of the bride’s parents where they offered their
congratulations to the newly married couple.
The wedding breakfast was a triumph of the culinary art and was followed
by toasts, speechmaking and a jolly
social hour before Dr. Hogan tore? His bride away on the honeymoon trip to
New York
and other places. The bride and
groom are both prominent and popular young people of the town and received many
beautiful gifts. The groom’s gift
to the bride was a rope of pearls which she wore at the wedding, to the
bridesmaid he gave a pretty gold bracelet, to the groomsman a pearl pin and to
each of the ushers a pair of cuff links. The
bride also received a handsome electric lamp from the church choir, of which she
was a member, an electric heater from the Sodality and many gifts from friends

WED IN PRETTY CEREMONY – St. John’s Church was the scene of a most
attractive wedding on Saturday, Sept 12, of Carmel Theresa Williams, daughter of
Mrs. Charles J. Williams and the late Mr. Williams, to William Francis Hogan,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Hogan. Reverend
Father W.J. Buckley officiated at the double ring ceremony.
Reverend Sister Mary Joan of Arc, organist, accompanied the soloist Mrs.
Gerald Besseau?. The bride, given in
marriage by her brother, P.O. Joseph J. Williams of

, wore a floor length gown of white velvet with semi-train while the bodice had
a jewel neckline and lily point sleeves. A
matching velvet how? Held the four-tiered, scalloped shoulder veil and she
carried a bouquet of red roses and stephanotis.
Matron of honor, Mrs. Patrick G. Brady and bridesmaid Miss Catherine Ann
Williams, sisters of the bride, wore identical gowns with headdresses of tulle
illusion over velvet bows and matching accessories.
Their bouquets were of white Shasta daisies.
Mr. Vincent Hogan, brother of the groom was best man and the guests were
ushered by Mr. Ronald Hogan, brother of the groom, and Mr. Charles Williams,
brother of the bride. Following a
reception at the Lions Club Hall, the couple left on a wedding trip to
Toronto

A very pretty and happy autumn wedding was consummated on Tuesday morning
last when Mr. Everette Hogan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hogan of the third
line, Bathurst, and Miss Rose Catherine Whyte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.P.
Whyte, Brock street, Perth, were united in marriage at St. John’s church.
The cemetery was performed by Rev. Father Hogan with the choir assisting.
The bride wore a navy blue tailored travelling suit and waist of ivory
satin and a very becoming hat of royal purple and a white fox stole.
The bride was assisted by her friend Miss Loretta Courtney, who wore a
suit of navy blue serge, and large picture hat of pink velvet and a white
thibet? Stole. Mr. Daniel Hogan
supported the groom. When the
ceremony was over a reception was held at the bride’s home, where bride and
groom were showered with the best of good wishes and where a dainty luncheon was
served to the guests, who included the immediate relatives of the young couple.
Congratulatory toasts were made by Messrs. Dan Hogan and P. Kehoe, and
were replied to by the bride’s father and the groom.
A telegram conveying congratulations was received from Miss Annie Hogan
of
Detroit
, sister of the groom. The bride
received a very large array of presents, including cheques, cut glass, silver
and furniture. Among them being an
oak rocker from the Henry K. Wampole Co., where the bride was an employee for
many years, also a mahogany parlor table from the Children of Mary, of which she
was a member. Both bride and groom
have a host of friends, who wish them the best in life.
The groom’s gift to the bride was a sunburst of pearls, to the
bridesmaid, a broach set with amethysts and pearls, and to the groomsman, a pair
of cufflinks. The and groom left on
the afternoon train for
Montreal
,
Quebec
and many other points.
On their return they will reside in Renfrew where the groom is employed.

was a handsome wristlet watch, to the bridesmaid, a pearl necklace, and to the
groomsman, a pearl tie pin. The
bride was the recipient of many presents, including a dining room suite from Mr.
and Mrs. W.J. Fleet, with whom she was a valued employee in the dining room for
ten years, and a dinner set from a number of patrons of the Revere, accompanied
by an address, wishing her many years of happy married life.
The groom was also the recipient of an address and well filled purse from
his fellow employees of the T.A. Code Knitting Mill. (

KEHOE – HOGAN
At St. John’s Church last Monday morning, the third Monday of the month
of June, was ushered in by a pretty and happy wedding.
The contracting parties were Miss Mayme Hogan, oldest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. M. Hogan of the 3rd concession of
Bathurst
, and Mr. Peter J. Kehoe, wine clerk at the Revere House,
Perth
. The wedding party drove from the
home of the bride’s parents to
St. John’s
where the ceremony was solemnized at
8 o’clock
by Rev. Father Davis. P.P. The
church contained a large number of friends and acquaintances of the contracting
parties. The bride was assisted by
her sister, Miss Maud Hogan, as bridesmaid.
Mr. Patrick Kehoe, of Chatham, Ont., cousin of the groom, was groomsman.
The bride wore a dress of linen-colored silk Eolienne cloth, lined with
blue silk taffeta and Persian trimmings to match.
Her hat was a chiffon to match and trimmed with pearls and she carried a
beautiful bouquet of white carnations. The
bridesmaid was attired in linen-colored silk voile, over pale blue taffeta, with
trimmings to match, a linen-colored canvas hat, and she carried pink carnations.
After the ceremony had been performed the contracting parties received
many hearty congratulations and then drove to the home of the bride’s parents,
where a bountiful wedding breakfast was partaken of.
Mr. and Mrs. Kehoe returned in the evening of their future home on
Wilson Street west
. Many appropriate and valuable
wedding gifts were received by the bride. The
groom also received a number of remembrances from the Revere House staff and
others. Both bride and groom have a
large circle of friends and acquaintances who will wish for them a happy and
prosperous wedded life. The newly
wedded couple were serenaded by the band of the 42nd regiment on the
following evening. (

groom’s gift to the bride was an amethyst pendant, to the bridesmaid, a pearl
ring, and to the groomsman, a set of gold cuff links.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard left on the
noon
train for
Belleville

Toronto
, and on their return will reside at Glen Tay, where the groom is a prosperous
young farmer. A number of beautiful
gifts were received by the young couple, including a cabinet of silver from the
employees of the fitting room of the Perth Shoe Co., also cheques, cut glass,

There was a joyous wedding in
St. John’s
church on Tuesday morning when two of our popular and esteemed young people
took upon themselves the vows of matrimony.
They were Miss Margaret Ann Murray, daughter of Mrs. John Murray,
Gore Street, east
, and Mr. Albert Victor McLean, flour and feed merchant.
The nuptial mass was pronounced by Rev. Father Hogan at
eight o’clock
, in the presence of a large number of the happy young couple’s friends.
The bride was assisted by her cousin, Miss Maggie Hogan, and the
groom’s side-de-camp was Mr. James B. Cordick.
The bride was gowned in a pretty costume of rajah silk, cream tint, with
hat to match, and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilly of the
valley. Her bridesmaid was costumed
in mauve ? silk, trimmed with ? Irish Isos?, hat to match and carried a bouquet of sweet fragrance. When the church
ceremony was over, the bridal party repaired to the home of the bride where the
wedding breakfast was served and the day quietly spent.
In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. McLean went to
Montreal
for a honeymoon. The bride’s
travelling suit was mauve broadcloth. Bride
and groom are highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends.
Mrs. McLean was kindly remembered by her friends in the Wampole company,
where she was employed, with a pretty table and picture, and the groom received
valuable tokens from the Hibernians, of which he is Financial Secretary, and the
Citizens’ Band, of which he is a member. The
gift of the former was an oak hall rack, and of the latter a cabinet of silver,
endorsed with the heartiest of congratulations.
The groom is one of the best young and progressive men in town, and
numerous are the expressions for a long and happy married life. (

marriage by her brother, Melville Hogan, the bride looked charming in a floor
length gown of luxurious lace and nylon tulle.
Highlighted by a dainty ruffled tulle underskirt, the skirt cascades from
hipline to floor in three tires edged with beautiful lace and scalloped
sweetheart neckline. Her fingertip
veil of tulle was held in place by a crown headdress of tiny pearls and
iridescent sequins and she carried a bouquet of red roses and stephanotis.
She wore a single strand of cultured pearls, the gift of the groom.
The bride was attended by the groom’s sister, Mrs. Russell Hogan, who
wore a pastel blue ballerina length gown of nylon chiffon and carried a bouquet
of white and blue mums, with matching headdress.
The groom was attended by the bride’s brother, Ronald Hogan, of

MILDRED HOGAN MARRIED AT ST. JOHN’S – White peonies formed the
setting for the all white wedding in St. John’s Roman Catholic church on
Saturday, June 26, when Rev. J.E. Trainor united in marriage Mary Mildred,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hogan, to John Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Pennett, all of Perth. Rev. Sister
Mary Wilhimine presided at the organ and during the nuptial mass Shirley and
Lawrence Noonan rendered tow solos, “On This Day, Oh Beautiful? Mother, and
“On This Our Wedding Day.” The
bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of frosted
nylon net over taffeta with fitted bodice and colonial style skirt which fell to
a circular train. Her finger tip
veil of tulle illusion was held in place with a lace coronet trimmed with lily
of the valley. She carried a powder
puff bouquet of white carnations and blue cornflower.
She also carried a crystal rosary and wore a double strand of pearls,
gifts from the groom. The bride’s
attendants, Misses Helen Hogan, maid of Honour, Mary Publow and Joyce Mulley,
bridesmaids. All wore lovely floor
length gowns of white nylon marquisette over taffeta.
They were styled with drop shoulder effect neck line and bouffant skirts
gathered to a bustle. They wore
matching caplets of American beauty feathers trimmed with white mohair and
carried colonial style bouquets of white sweet peas and American beauty roses.
Little Fleurette Allaert made a charming flower girl in white dotted
Swiss trimmed with fuchsia ribbon tied in a large bow.
She carried a miniature bouquet of ?.
Mr. Joseph Phelan was groomsman and the ushers were Carl Hogan and
Shirley Pennett. Following the
ceremony a reception and dinner was held at St. John’s Hall.
Receiving the guests, the bride’s mother chose a black dress accented
with fuchsia and a corsage of red roses with black accessories.
The groom’s mother wore a deep pool blue dress and a corsage of pink
roses with grey accessories. Later,
the young couple left for a trip to
Montreal
and points east. For travelling,
the bride wore a pink jersey, two piece effect dress.
She wore a beige and brown hat and brown accessories with a corsage of
yellow and pink Pinocchio roses. Mr.
and Mrs. Pennett will reside in
Perth
