Bennett Wedding At St. James
A very pretty wedding was solemnized in St. James' Anglican Church,
Saturday afternoon, June 23rd, at
three o'clock
when Miss Barbara Jean Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bennett, became
the bride of Mr. Leonard (Mac) Dowdall,
all of
Carleton Place
.
Peonies in various hues, and mums decorated the altar and red rosebuds,
tied with white ribbon bows marked the guest pews.
Rev. George Young. officiated the double ring ceremony and was assisted
by Rev. Oldham, of Clayton. The organist
was Miss Mabel Brown and the soloist was Mrs. Jean Bradford. who sang "0
Perfect Love" during the signing of the register. Mr. Bennett gave his
daughter in marriage and she was attended by Miss Lise Viau, of
Ottawa
as maid of honor, and Misses Sandra and Susan Bennett, sisters of the bride,
were bridesmaids.
The flower girl was little three year old Wendy McNabb of
Carleton Place
.
The best man was Mr. R. Henderson, of
Carleton Place
,
Mr. Donald Dowdall and Mr. Garnet Porteous ushered
the guests.
The lovely young bride very pretty in her floor length wedding gown of
nylon organza over Satin designed with a fitted bodice having a square neckline
trimmed with pearls and irridescent sequins and long lilly point sleeves. The
bouffant hooped skirt with plain in the front with four tiers of
Alencon
lace in back. She wore a strand of cultured pearls and earrings the gift of her
bridegroom. Her headdress, a tiara of crystals and seed pearls secured her
finger tip chapel veil of silk tulle illusion and she carried a white
prayer book topped with pink sweetheart roses with trailing, white
ribbons and pink rosebuds. The pretty attendants
wore identically designed street length dresses of peacock blue organza, over
taffeta styled with fitted bodices
which bad boat necklines, short sleeves and full skirts. The winsome, little flower girl was very dainty wearing a frock of
pink nylon over taffeta with full skirt. A reception followed the ceremony at the 0ddfellows Hall.
Later the young couple left on motor trip to
Northern Ontario
,
the bride travelling, in a pink suit with white accessories and a corsage of
pink rosebuds.

Balderson. For her wedding the bride chose
a two piece white knitted suit threaded with silver and gold; a
shirred black satin cleche style hat with
gold accessories complimented by a mauve orchid corsage. Miss Lowe chose a winter two piece wool suit; black accessories with
a corsage of Talisman pink roses. Following
the ceremony a reception was held at the home of
the bride's parents. Later, the bride and groom left on their wedding
trip to points in
Western Ontario
.
On their return they will take up residence at

Trousseau Tea for Miss Diana Marsh

B. Marsh entertained at a trousseau tea at her home on
Emily Street

Wednesday afternoon May 29th, from three to
five o’clock
,
in honor of her daughter, Miss Diana Marsh, whose marriage takes place this week
on Saturday afternoon.
The guests were received by Mrs. Marsh, who wore a black and gold sheath
dress with a corsage of white carnations, and was assisted by her daughter, who
wore a navy blue linen gown with a pink carnation corsage.
Summer flowers were used to decorate the living and tea rooms and were
artistically arranged. The tea table, with
its pretty lace cloth, was centred with a silver bowl of lilacs and tulips with
tall pink tapers on either end. Tea was
poured by Miss Susie Rothwell and Mrs. Thorold New. Assisting in the tea room
were Mrs. William G. Rothwell and Miss Sharon Irwin.
Little Miss Barbara Shane attended the door.

Murray - Marsh Wedding Saturday
St. James’ Anglican Church, adorned with baskets of white
mums and ferns was the setting for a lovely wedding on Saturday morning, June
eighth at eleven o’clock when Miss Diana Louise Marsh, became the bride of Mr.
George Frederick Murray.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. B. Marsh,
Emily Street
,
and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Arden Lake of Fallbrooke.
Rev. George Young officiated at the ceremony and Mr. Ralph Langtry was
organist. The choir was in attendance and sang during the signing of the
register. Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was attended by Mrs. John Hamilton, (Ann McFadden), as
matron-of-honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Sharon Irwin and Miss Darlene
Murray, sister of the bridegroom. The
flower girls were little Misses Barbara and Ann Shane.
The best man Mr. Bob Marsh, Jr., brother of the bride, and the ushers
were Mr. Calvin Chapman, and Mr. Elmer Crawford. For
her wedding the young bride wore a full-length gown of Alencon lace and silk
nylon net with a moulded bodice, sabrina neckline trimmed with iridescent
sequins, long lilypoint sleeves, and full bouffant skirt embroidered with seed
pearls and iridescent sequins. Her
headdress, a cap of lace and seed pearls, topped with white organza, roses, and
bows with pearl side combs, secured her shoulder length veil of silk tulle
illusion, and she carried a bouquet of red roses and stephanotis. The
matron-of-honor wore a street length gown of mint green, organza, over taffeta,
white accessories and carried a nosegay of yellow carnations, mauve pink and
white sweet peas. The bridesmaids wore identically designed street length gowns
of pale yellow organza, over taffeta, white accessories and carried small
baskets of sweet peas in the same tone as the senior attendants. Mrs. Marsh, mother of the bride, wore a navy blue sheath gown with
panel effect, matching picture hat, and a corsage of pink roses.
Mrs. Lake, mother of the bridegroom, chose a blue figured gown with a
white hat and a corsage of yellow mums. Following
the ceremony a reception was held in the Parish Hall. Later the young couple
left for a short motor trip. To travel, the bride donned a beige and tan boucle
suit with matching accessories. A corsage of pink roses completed her ensemble.
Upon their return home, Mr. and Mrs. Murray will reside on
Bridge Street
.

- Code Wedding Saturday
A lovely summer
wedding was solemnized in St. John’s Anglican Church, Innisville, on Saturday
afternoon at two-thirty when Miss Mary Elizabeth Ellen Code, became the bride of
Mr. James Russell Johnston, of North Gower. The bride is a daughter of Mr. W. R.
Code, of Innisville, and the late Mrs. Code, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Russell Albert Johnston, of North Gower. Standards
of mums and ferns decorated the altar and white ribbon bows marked the guest
pews. Rev. Maurice Oldham, officiated at
the ceremony, and the organist was Mrs. Lloyd Code. The soloist was Mr. Lawrence
Code, who sang the Twenty-third Psalm and “O Perfect Love” during the
signing of the register. Given in marriage
by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Lorne Deugo, of
Carleton Place, as matron-of-honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Evelyn Code,
sister of the bride, and Miss Barbara Johnston, sister of the bridegroom, Little
Miss Nancy Code, niece of the bride was flower girl.
The best man was Mr. Pryce Apedailoe, of North Gower, and Mr. Fred Code,
brother of the bride, and Mr. David Jago, of North Gower, ushered the guests.
The young bride chose for her wedding a pretty floor length gown of white
silk taffeta styled with a fitted bodice of
Chantilly
lace with crystal trim, a scalloped neckline, long lace sleeves tapering in
points over her hands. The bouffant skirt, was appliquéd veil of silk tulle
illusion and she carried a cascade bouquet of American Beauty red roses and
maiden hair fern.
The matron-of-honor and bridesmaids wore identically designed street
length dresses of light blue peau-de-soie, matching accessories and carried
nosegays of white mums and pink carnations. The little flower girl wore a short baby blue frock of crystal
organza over blue taffeta. She carried a small nosegay of similar to that of the
senior attendants. Mrs. Isaac Smith, aunt
of the bride, chose a two-piece mottled brown and white ensemble, pink
accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Johnston, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a blue taffeta gown
with matching accessories and a corsage of white carnations.
A reception followed the ceremony at the Innisville community hall.
Later the young couple left on a motor trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario,
and the other points in the province, the bride travelling in a shantung azure
blue sheath dress with a printed linen coat in matching shade. She wore white
accessories and a corsage of pink mums. Upon
their return home, Mr. and Mrs. Johnston will reside in North Gower.
A number of out-of-town guests attended the wedding from

Sunday, September 1st, 1963 at 2
p.m., when Miss Jessica Elizabeth Toop (Reg. N.). became the bride of Mr.
William Charles Hutchinson. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Toop of Almonte and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. William A. Hutchinson of Willowdale. Ont.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hill of Willowdale and during the
signing of the register Mrs. Ken Brydges and Mr. Stewart Lancaster, aunt and
uncle of the bride, rendered "0 Perfect Love."
Given in marriage by her father, the young bride was attended, by her two
sisters, Misses Dorothy and Ruth Toop of Almonte, as bridesmaids.
Mr. David Crosby of Downsview, Ont., assisted the groom. For her wedding the lovely young bride wore a street-length gown of
white sparkle organza over taffeta with matching sparkle organza jacket over
lace. A circlet of pearls, held in place her elbow-length veil of tulle illusion
and she carried a cascade bouquet of American Beauty roses.
Her attendants wore identical street-length gowns of blue peau-de-soie
with matching accessories and carried nosegays of pink roses and white
carnations. Following the reception the
young couple left on a wedding trip
to Sault Ste. Marie and other points in northern
Ontario

in All Saints Anglican Church, Westboro , on Saturday.
The bride is the daughter of Rev. J. Edwin Allsopp, minister of St.
Stephen’s Anglican Church,

and Mrs. Allsopp. Mr. McBride is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arndell McBride of
Westmeath. The wedding music was played by Mr. Harvey J. Cottrell and the choir
of St. Stephen’s Church sang. Mrs. P. T.
Meloche was the soloist. The bride was
given in marriage by Mr. Wilfred Halpenny and Miss Gayle Barrie attended as maid
of honour. Miss Sandra St. Pierre and Miss Helen Acres were bridesmaids.
Mr. George Jackson, of Vars, was best man and the guests were ushered by
Mr. Edwin Allsopp, brother of the bride, and Rev. Murray McBride, brother of the
bridegroom. The bride wore a full length
gown of white delustered satin fashioned with a round neckline scalloped with
Alencon
lace, a fitted bodice and lilypoint sleeves, matching lace was appliquéd on the
bodice and the front panel of a full skirt which extended in the back to a
chapel train. A headdress of white satin and pearls held her veil of tulle
illusion and she carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and shasta
chrysanthemums.
Her attendants' gowns and matching pillbox hats were in dark coral
velvet. As the couple left the church a
guard-of-honor was formed by the choir. Following
a reception at St. Stephen's Church Hall, Mr. and Mrs. McBride left for a
wedding trip to the
East
Coast.
The
couple will reside in Westmeath. Mr. McBride is a graduate of the Kemptville
School of Agriculture.

lace styled with a bouffant princess skirt falling into a deep box pleats and
ending in a chapel train. The empire
bodice had a portrait neckline and was trimmed with panels of appliquéd lace.
The sleeves were lily-point.
The bride carried a bouquet of blue shasta chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Melvin Gilmour attended her sister as matron of honor. Mrs. Clare
Chesney, the bride's other sister, and Miss Gale Mohr,
sister of the bridegroom,
were bridesmaids. The matron of honor wore
a short shrimp colored brocade dress and the bridesmaids were in similar frocks
of pale blue brocade. A reception was held
in the parish hall. The couple left for a wedding trip to the Eastern States.

Later the young couple left on a trip to the Laurentians. For travelling,
the bride donned a brown tweed suit, turquoise hat and mink
brown accessories.

Wedding
The marriage of Marjorie Doreen Paterson, Reg. N. , daughter of Mrs.
Stewart Paterson of Almonte and the late Mr. Paterson to Mr. Gordon Allan Weir,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Weir, of Carleton Place was solemnized in St. George's
Anglican Church, Clayton, on Saturday, September 21, 1968.
The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. H. Horsey, Rev. Fred
Hubert of
Brockville
was soloist and organist was Miss Cathy James. Given in marriage by her
brother, Mr. Delmer Paterson, the bride wore a floor length Empire line,
sleeveless gown of peau-de-soie. The coat was of imported chantilly lace in rose
pattern edged in peau-de-soie elbow
sleeves failing into a chapel train. The four-tiered illusion veil was held in
place by a cluster of baby roses and she carried a cascade bouquet of yellow
roses with stephanotis. She wore a single strand pearl necklace, a gift of the
groom. Mrs. Marilyn Sonnenburg was
matron-of-honour. The bridesmaids were Miss Mary Paterson, sister of the bride,
Miss Laura Pratt, Mrs. Mary Wilson and Mrs. Margaret McKay.
The attendants wore identical floor-length gowns of cotton ottoman,
Empire line, in soft green. Their headdresses were halos, in matching soft green
and they carried bouquets of mums and shasta daisies.
Miss Darlene Paterson, niece of the bride, was flower girl and wore a
gown identical to the bridesmaids and carried a small basket of yellow mums and
daisies. Master Kevin Sweeney, nephew of
the groom was ring bearer and carried the. rings on a heart-shaped satin pillow.
Mr. John Weir, brother of the groom was best man. Ushers were Mr. George
McKay, cousin of the bride, Mr. Douglas Weir, brother of the groom, Mr. Lloyd
Wilson and Mr. Allan Mann. The bride's
mother wore a strawberry Italian knit dress and jacket with matching
accessories. The groom's mother wore an apricot brocade suit with matching
accessories. The newlyweds drove in a
decorated buggy drawn by a pony to the
United
Church
hall where dinner was served to 130 guests.
The couple left for a wedding trip to
Banff
and Vancouver, the bride wearing a pale blue dress with matching brocade coat,
hat and accessories.

Drummond, Crampton Wedding Held
Miss Gail Lenora
Crampton, daughter of Mrs. Charles Crampton and the late Mr. Crampton of R. R.
1, Carleton Place became the bride of Mr. Ronald Edward Drummond, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Drummond of R. R. 1, Carleton Place, on Saturday, September 28 ,
1968 at 2 p.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, Innisville.
Rev. H. Horsey of Clayton officiated at the ceremony. Mrs. Cecil Jackson
was organist and Mrs. Robert Brydges was soloist Given
in marriage by her brother, Mr. Ward Crampton, the young bride was attended by
her sister, Miss Sharon Crampton as maid of honour Miss Carolyn Acton, Miss
Shirley Dool and Miss Ann Farrow as bridesmaids. Mr. Rodney Stead of R. R. 2, Lanark was groomsman and the guests were
ushered by Mr. Brian Drummond, the groom’s brother and Mr. Art McKay.
For her wedding the lovely bride wore a floor length A-line gown of white
taffeta with lace over-dress, empire waistline and a long train of lace
cascading from a shoulder bow. A tiara of lace petals secured her
shoulder-length veil and she carried cascade bouquet of pink roses and white
mums. Her attendants wore identical
floor-length gowns of blue peau-de-soie, A-line style; matching short
veils cascading from a rosette headdress and dried bouquets of Shasta daisies.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the basement of Boyd’s
United
Church
.
Later the young couple left on a wedding trip to the Maritimes, the bride
travelling in It navy blue walking suit, matching, accessories and a corsage of
white mums. Mr. and Mrs. Drummond will
reside at Port Perry, Ont.

and Mrs. Gordon Cumming of Innisville, became the bride of Wayne Albert, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mayhew of

.
Following the reception , the bride and groom left for a wedding trip to
Cape
Cod
. Mr. and Mrs. Mayhew will reside in
Ottawa
.

11:00 a.m.
The maid of honour was Miss Jill Michell of Kitchener, Ontario and the
best man was Mr. Keith Martin of London. The
young couple will be in
Canada
between Dec. 18 and Jan. 10, after which they will return to
London
and will take up residence in
Amsterdam

Miss Sharon Elizabeth
Crampton of Innisville, Ont. and Mr. Rodney Franklin Stead of Middleville, Ont.,
exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, July 19th, 1969 at 2 p.m. in St. John's
Anglican Church, Innisville, Ont. The bride
is the daughter of Mrs. Charles Crampton and the late Mr. Crampton of Innisville
and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stead of Middleville, Ont.
Rev. H. Horsey officiated at the ceremony and Alice Jackson was organist.
The groom's grandfather, Mr. Harry Stead, was soloist.
Given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Ward Crampton, the bride was
attended by Mrs. Ronald Drummond of Winchester as matron-of-honour and Misses
Ruth Stead and Cathy Brousseau as bridesmaids. Mr.
Ronald Drummond of Winchester was groomsman.
For her wedding the young bride wore a floor-length gown of white ligoda,
empire style, with Guipure lace banded bodice and matching lace edging the
detachable panel train. A tricornered coronet secured her tiered,
shoulder-length, tulle veil and she carried a cascade of pink roses.
Her attendants wore floor length gowns of pink floral organza with sheer
overlay, matching headdresses and carried nosegays of white and pink mums.
The brides mother wore a two-piece ensemble of frosty pink shantung,
white accessories and a corsage of pink mums. The
groom's mother wore a green dress, white accessories and a corsage of white
mums. The young couple left on a wedding
trip to Montreal and points in Northern Quebec, the bride travelling In a blue
floral dress, white coat, blue accessories and a corsage of blue carnations.
Mr. and Mrs. Stead will reside at 57 John St. N., Arnprior, Ont.
