Villeneuve - Thompson

Mrs. Mary Thompson of Clayton, takes pleasure in announcing the marriage of her daughter, Nancy Lee (Thompson), to Mr. David Brian Villeneuve, son of Joyce and Bill Villeneuve of Almonte. The wedding ceremony took place on Saturday, August 15, 1981, at the Guthrie United Church, with Rev. James Whyte officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her-brother, Len Thompson of Clayton. She was attended by her sister, Miss Lorraine Thompson of Clayton as her maid of honour; Cindy Lay, niece of the groom as flower girl. The bridesmaids were, sister Linda O'Connell, niece, Sheila Thompson and sister of the groom, Eileen Lay. Mr. Bill Villeneuve of Almonte was best man. The ushers were brothers of the groom, Steve and Mike Villeneuve and brother of the bride, Ray Thompson. After attending a beautiful reception at Fairview Manor by staff and residents, the bridal party returned to Clayton community hall for their wedding reception, where they were greeted by many friends and relatives. Nancy and David enjoyed a beautiful honeymoon in Niagara Falls and are now residing in Clayton.

25th Wedding Anniversary

On September 24th, 1972, a lovely surprise luncheon was held for Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Comba on the occasion of their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Comba's mother and Mr. Comba's mother, congratulated the couple at Union Hall, along with all the couple's attendants and approximately eighty friends and neighbours. The hall was beautifully decorated with wedding bells and flowers, the flowers being arranged by Mr. Ed White of Carleton Place. A delicious buffet lunch was prepared and served by Mrs. Norman Dunlop and family, Mrs. Edgar Ritchie and family, and Mrs. Milo Jones who also prepared the cake for the occasion. Besides receiving many beautiful gifts, Mr. and Mrs. Comba were also presented with a lovely money tree.

Mr. and Mrs. Murray Reid will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, May 13th 1973, in the Cedar Hill Community Centre, from 2 to 6 p.m. when relatives and friends may call. (No gifts, thank you.)
GLEESON - James and Elizabeth (nee Drynan), are pleased to announce the birth of a daughter, 7 lbs. 11 ozs., at Almonte General Hospital, March 11, 1970. Both well.
McDOUGALL - MacPHERSON - Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth R. McDougall are pleased to announce the engagement of their youngest daughter, Elizabeth Alice (Beth) (McDougall), to Mr. Thomas W. LIDDLE - MONTGOMERY - Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Liddle wish to announce the engagement of their youngest daughter, Colleen Helena (Liddle) to Mr. John Montgomery, son of Mrs. Lucienne Montgomery and the late Mr. Jack Montgomery of St. Pascel-De-Baylon, Ontario. Marriage will take place in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Almonte at 4 o'clock, September 29, 1973.
BRUCE - HAMILTON - The engagement is announced of Barbara (Bruce), daughter of Mr. Thomas V. Bruce and the late Mrs. Bruce of Belleville, to Allan (Hamilton), son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamilton, Almonte. Marriage to take place on Saturday, October 6th, 1973, West Minister United Church, Belleville, Ontario.
TURCOTTE - BOAL - Mrs. Rhonda Turcotte of Carleton Place announces the engagement of her daughter, Diana-Lynne (Turcotte), to Elmer Harold (Boal), son of Mrs. Vera Boal of Pakenham. Marriage to take place in December.
Drynan - Hurdis - Memorial Park United Church was the setting for a lovely wedding on Saturday afternoon, March seventh, at two-thirty when Miss Janet Patricia Hurdis became the bride of Mr. Brian Edgar Drynan, of Almonte. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hurdis, Napoleon street, Carleton Place, and the bridegroom a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Drynan, of Almonte. A pretty floral arrangement of pink and white mums and ferns formed an attractive background at the altar for the ceremony at which the Rev. Dr. Frank MacLean officiated. The organist, Mr. Michael Mailey, played softly throughout the service and during the signing of the register. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Miss Arlene Hurdis as maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Sandra Bennett of Carleton Place, and Miss Dorothy Drynan, sister of the bridegroom, of Almonte. Mr. Leonard Drynan, of Almonte, was best man for his brother, and Mr. Gerald Hurdis, brother of the bride, of town, and Mr. Robert (Bob) Drynan, of Almonte, another brother of the bridegroom, ushered the guests. For her wedding the young bride wore a floor-length gown of white silk chiffon over taffeta with fitted bodice and full bouffant skirt. She wore long white mittens of the same material as her gown and her jewelry was single strand of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. Her headdress, a crown of crystals and seed pearls secured her silk tulle illusion fingertip veil and she carried a heart-shaped bouquet of red and white carnations. The attendants wore identical, street-length gowns of red velvet in raspberry tone. Their headdresses were white pill boxes with short veils and they carried nosegays of red and white carnations. Following the service a wedding dinner was served in the Almonte Legion Hall. In the evening a reception was held in the Appleton community hall, the young couple leaving later on a wedding trip to points in Ontario and the United States. Going away the bride wore a two-piece beige suit with beige top coat and matching accessories, complimented by a red and white carnation corsage. Upon their return home Mr. and Mrs. Drynan will reside in Carleton Place. Attending the wedding from outside points were guest from Almonte, Stittsville, Pembroke, Ottawa, Perth, Clayton and Appleton.
McEWEN - STEWART

Almonte United Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding at 7 p.m., May 1, 1976, when Rev. R. McCrea united Greg McEwen and Bonnie Stewart in marriage. The young bride given in marriage by her father was lovely in a gown of white polyester, with low cut neck, tight waist and full skirt with train and trimmed with pink daisies, made for her by Mrs. Marion McFarlane. Her flowers were pink sweetheart roses and baby's breath. Her double veil was finger tip length held in place by matching flowers. Her maid of honor, Nancy McFarlane wore a dress of pink polyester, made to match the bride's and trimmed with white daisies. Her flowers were pink carnations. The bridesmaids, Debby McWatty and Tracy Stewart wore blue dresses and carried blue carnations. The attendants all wore white picture hats trimmed to match their dresses. The little flower girl Julie McEwen was lovely in a long pink dress, and carried a basket of mixed flowers. Ronald Leishman was best man, and Brian Stewart and Michael McEwen were ushers. The groom and his attendants wore royal blue suits with frilled shirts. After the wedding a reception was held at Almonte High School. Before her wedding, Bonnie was guest of honor at showers given by Tracy Stewart, Janetta McKenzie and Nancy McFarlane. A mixed stag was also given by Brian Stewart. Following a honeymoon in U.S.A. the young couple will reside at R.R.2, Almonte.

FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE - IRETON - DRUMMOND - Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ireton of Ferguson's Falls wish to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lillian Margaret Robina (Ireton) to Clarence Brian (Drummond), son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Drummond of R.R. 1, Carleton Place. Marriage to take place in St. John's Anglican Church, Innisville, on June 22nd, 1974, at 7 p.m.
LEE - McINTOSH

Mr. and Mrs. David H. McIntosh announce the marriage of their daughter, Janice Margaret (McIntosh), to Richard Christopher Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lee of Ottawa. The couple were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony on May 13, 1978, at four o'clock at the Almonte United Church. Rev. Robt. J. McCrea officiated. Organist Mr. McCuan assisted appropriately. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white polyester crepe, with high neckline, long sleeves, embroidery trim, head dress and veil. Her bouquet was of red roses. The matron of honour, a close friend, Mrs. Theresa Tosh, wore a medium blue floor length gown as did the bridesmaids, Miss Marjorie Howie and Mrs. Cathy Jordan. Tracy McIntosh, niece of the bride, was flower girl, with a little basket of white and yellow daisies, similar to the bridesmaids' bouquets. The groom wore light blue with dark trim and was attended by his brother, Mr. David Lee. The ushers were Mr. Douglas Hoare and Mr. David McEwing. For the occasion the bride's mother chose a floor-length gown of peach polyester crepe with white corsage. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length dress of blue with ruffled neck trim and a white corsage. Following the ceremony the ladies of the church group served a delicious dinner to the wedding party after which a reception was held at the Stittsville Community Centre. The young couple will reside in Kanata.

BELLAMY - TOPPING - Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Topping of Lanark, are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Rhonda Lee (Topping) to William Allan Bellamy, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Bellamy, of Clayton, on Saturday, May 18, 1974 in St. Andrew's United Church, Lanark, Ontario.
DONALDSON - LIE - Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Donaldson of Pakenham are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jean (Donaldson) to Kay Lie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hong Gee Lie. Marriage to take place July 15, 1978 at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Toronto.
Hostesses At Shower

Mrs. Norman Clarke and Mrs. Norman Buffam. entertained jointly at a miscellaneous shower at the home of the former recently, in honor of Miss Janet Hurdis, whose marriage took place on Saturday afternoon to Mr. Brian Drynan at Memorial Park United Church. Some 25 guests were present and the young bride-elect was presented with a corsage of red roses and numerous lovely useful gifts distributed from a prettily decorated mauve and yellow basket. Following a pleasant and enjoyable evening spent in a number of amusements, refreshments were served. Miss Hurdis extended sincere appreciation to her hostesses and to her friends for the lovely gifts she received.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kay of Roxbora, Quebec are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter Judith Anna (Kay) to Gregory Keith (Stanley), son of Keith and Madeline Stanley Almonte, Ontario. Wedding to take place in St Paul's Anglican Church, Almonte on June 18th, 1983 at 3 p.m.

35th Wedding Anniversary - Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hudson entertained a number of friends to a dinner and surprise party at their home on Friday, Sept. 8, to celebrate the 35th wedding anniversary of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hudson. Those present for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon James, R.R. 1 Carleton Place, Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Hudson, Fallowfield, Mrs. H. Ansliss and Mrs. Andy Little, Ottawa, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Bellamy, Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed White, Carleton Place, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Erskine, Mrs. Stan Ohlke, Miss Beth Ayotte and Mr. Jack Hudson, Almonte, and Mr. and Mrs. William Ritchie, R.R. 1 Almonte. They have two grandchildren, Gwen and Kimberly. The couple were presented with a number of gifts and cards. Mr. Hudson expressed thanks on behalf of himself and Mrs. Hudson for the gifts and other expressions of thoughtfulness by their family and friends.
