Obituary James Bertram Orr In Goderich Township, Friday, April 2, 1926

The Goderich Star, Thursday April 8, 1926

DEATH: ORR. In Goderich Township, Friday, April 2, 1926, James Bertram Orr, 4th. concession, Goderich Twp., last Friday, caused a great shock amoung his friends on account of the suddeness of his call. Mr. Orr was only in his forty-fourth year and had been in his usual health up to four days before his death, when he took sick. It was not supposed, at first, that anything serious was the matter, but spinal miningitis developed and the end came quickly. Mr. Orr was born in Goderich Twp, being a son of the late Robert Orr. He lived in the township all his life and in Union church, of which he was a consistent member, he took his full share of the work, being a member of the session and also superintendent of the Sunday School. He also held the position as one of the school trustees for his section. He is survived by his wife, formerly a Miss Tichbourne and by 3 sons and 1 daughter, all at home-Gordon, Brock, Berland and Elma. Mr. John Richard Orr, of Goderich and Mr. Herbert Orr, of Calgary, are brothers. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, from his late residence to Maitland Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. S. Jefferson, pastor of Union Church and the pallbearers were members of the session of the church. Beautiful floral tributes from the church and Sunday School placed on the casket bore testimoney to the esteem in which he was held.
