Obituary Mary HoodFebruary 1938Mary Hood Seaforth Loses Beloved Citizen An estimable resident passed away on Saturday at her home on Market St. following an illness of six weeks, in the person of Mary Hood, wife of Robert Porterfield, in her 73rd year. The departed was born in Clifford, being a daughter of the late William Hood. She was married 44 years ago to her bereft husband, settling in Clifford where they resided for seven years and later in Hensall, moving to Seaforth in 1915. Mrs. Porterfield was a member of Northside United Church and the W.M.S. Surviving beside her husband, are two daughters and one son: Mrs. E.C. Chamberlain, Seaforth; Mrs. Gordon Miller, Los Angeles, California, and Arthur Porterfield, Flint, Michigan; also four brothers, William Hood, Clifford; Allan Hood, Basswood, Man.; James Hood, Castor, Alta.; Andrew Hood, Rex, Sask., and four sisters, Mrs. William Johnstone, Clifford; Mrs. Jos. Thompson, Gorrie; Mrs. David Wright, Isabella, Man., and Mrs. Issac Mitchell, Grand Forks, North Dakota. A private funeral was held at her late residence, Market Street, on Monday afternoon, interment being made in Clifford cemetery. Rev. T. A. Carmichael, of Northside United Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. C. C. Kaine of Seaforth. |
