Obituary Mrs. Elizabeth Mcbride Cousins Elliott of Goderich died May 31,1923From the Goderich Star June 7,1923 Obit Mrs. Elizabeth Mcbride Cousins Elliott died May 31,1923Cousins- At the home of her son-law, Mr. Jos. Thompson, Elizabeth McBride, beloved wife of the late James Cousins who predeceased her twenty six years ago, passed away peacefully on May 31st. She was buried on Saturday June 2, the funeral taking place to Dungannon cemetary.She was born in Glasgow, Scotland in the year 1835 on Mar 4th, and came to Canada when but a young girl, and was married to the late James Cousins in the year 1855. They settled on the 6 th concession of Colborne and raised a family of ten children;thence they moved to the 2nd concession of Ashfield, and in the year 1897, Mr. James Cousins was called away. Deceased continued life in Ashfield until 1903, when she married Archibald Elliott. They lived in Goderich until the year 1912, when she moved to her son James home at Dungannon. Here she remained for 4 years and she spent her remaining days at her daughters, Mrs. Joseph Thompson's, where she was called to the great beyond. Among those to mourn her loss are six sons, two daughters and one grand-daughter whom she raised from infancy, her daughter Isabella(Mrs. David Johnston)was buried 34 years ago and Annie (Mrs. Wm. McWhinney was buried 19 years ago last September. All the remaining members of the family were present except two sons, Jacob of Detroit and Thomas of Manitoba, her other four boys, Wm. John, Archie, James, and Richard being her pallbearers. Those present at the funeral from a distance were Wm. John of Sault St. Marie, and Archie of Flint Mich. Mrs. George Drew and Mrs. Elmer Bell of Goderich and Mrs. Joseph Thompson at home, mourn the loss of a true and loving mother. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist church. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hays, of Dungannon, who so pleasingly conducted the service. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
