1974
THE SHAWNEE NEWS-STAR, Saturday, December 7, 1974, pg. 2:
James J. Truscott
   Funeral services for James J. Truscott, 87, of 3400 N. Oklahoma, are set for 2 p.m. today in St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. David Thomas, pastor, officiating.
   Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
   The casket will remain open in Roesch Brothers Chapel until 1 p.m. and will not be opened after the service.
   The Board of Stewards are asked to sit in a group as honorary bearers.
   Mr. Truscott died at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Holdenville hospital following a two-week illness.  Born June 5, 1887, in Knox County, Tex., he moved to Remus, Okla., in 1900, where his father owned a store.  A few years later the Truscott's bought a store in Maud, and they were in business there until 1920.  At this time, Mr. Truscott moved to Shawnee to work for Round House Overalls.  In 1941, he purchased the factory from A.S. and Carlisle Nuckolls and operated it with his son, Gene Truscott, until 1967, when he sold it.  Mr. and Mrs. Truscott have been living in Holdenville since June of this year.
   He had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1920; and had been an active supporter of many civic projects.  Mr. Truscott was a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge No. 107 AF&AM; a 32nd degree Mason; and received his 50 year membership pin on May 22, 1971.
   Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jewell Truscott, Holdenville; one son, Eugene G., Truscott, Shawnee; one daughter, Mrs. Rozanne Turner, Holdenville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
   Roesch Brothers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

1975
THE SHAWNEE NEWS-STAR, Tuesday, July 15, 1975, pg. 2:
EUGENE TRUSCOTT
   Services for Eugene (Gene) Truscott, 62, of Colonial Estates, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today in Roesch Brothers Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Thomas, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, officiating.
   Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
   The casket will remain open in the funeral chapel until service time, and will not be opened after the service.
   Mr. Truscott died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital.  Born June 28, 1913, in Maud, he came to Shawnee with his parents.  Mr. Truscott graduated from Shawnee High School; Oklahoma State University; and University of Oklahoma Law School.
   He was associated with his father, the late J.J. Truscott, in the Shawnee Garment Co. here for 26 years until his retirement in 1965.
   Mr. Truscott was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; past president of Shawnee Rotary Club; and a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
   Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Katherine Truscott, 825 N. Broadway; one son, James J. Truscott, Stuttgart, Germany; one daughter, Mrs. Kay Reese, Anchorage, Alaska; his mother, Mrs. J.J. Truscott, one sister, Mrs. Rozanne Turner, both of Holdenville; three grandchildren; Ricky Truscott, Mike Truscott, both of Oklahoma City and Jeff Truscott, Stuttgart, Germany.

1976
THE SHAWNEE NEWS-STAR, Thursday, Sept. 16, 1976, pg. 2:
Mrs. James J. Truscott
   Former Shawnee resident, Mrs. James J. Truscott, 83, of Holdenville, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday in a Holdenville hospital.
   Services have been set for 11 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. David Thomas, pastor, officiating.
   Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
   Mrs. Truscott was born Aug. 21, 1893, near Wichita Falls, Tex.  Her father, Quincy Hearne, was a Wells Fargo driver.  He died when she was a child.  Mrs. Truscott and her mother moved to Tecumseh where her mother married Philip Cooper.  The family moved to Maud.
  She was married to James J. Truscott in 1912.  They were in the mercantile business in Maud before moving to Shawnee where Mr. Truscott became associated with Round House Overalls.  He later bought and operated the business.  Mr. Truscott died on Dec. 5, 1974.
   Mrs. Truscott's son, Eugene, died July 13, 1975.
   She had been living in Holdenville for the past few years.  Mrs. Truscott was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Rose Unit of the Shawnee Garden clubs and the DAR.  She was a national garden club judge.
   Mrs. Truscott recently had a book of poetry published.
   Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John R. Turner, Holdenville; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gene (Mary) Truscott, 825 N. Broadway; a sister, Mrs. Guy M. Troutman, Tucumcari, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hattie Cooper, Carbondale, Colo.; Mrs. Mary McAllister, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Mrs. Kay Reese, Anchorage, Alaska; Maj. James J. Truscott, Germany; Jean Turner Schreier, Baltimore, Md.; John Truscott Turner, Fort Worth, Tex.; David M. Turner, Norman; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   Roesch Brothers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
