Geraldine Priest
Nov 10, 1930 - June 13, 2015

Fairy Geraldine Boling Priest of Edmond, OK, was born November 10, 1930, and passed peacefully from her earthly home, surrounded by her family, on June 13, 2015. She was born to Samuel & Leona Boling. Geraldine became a graduate of Deer Creek High School, where she was an avid basketball player. Following graduation, she met and married her soul mate, Jimmie Joe Priest. During their sixty years of marriage,

Jimmie & Geraldine created a legacy of love and family, including three children, Fary Watkins and husband Larry, of Harrah; Jimmie Joe Priest Jr. and wife Marilyn, of Edmond; and Sam Priest and wife Nancy, of Edmond. Jimmie & Geraldine were further blessed with five grandchildren, David Priest, Melissa Sparks, Cari Ham, Jimmie Joe Priest III, and Katrina Priest; along with seven wonderful great-grandchildren.

Geraldine is also survived by her sisters, Gay Briggs, of Wichita; and Marvel Savage, of Midwest City. Geraldine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmie; her parents; her brother, Vernon Boling; and her precious granddaughter, Heather Watkins. Along with her great love of family, Geraldine’s passions included traveling, photography, cooking, writing, and a true love of nature. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and many cherished memories. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.

Jimmie Joe Priest, Sr. of Edmond, OK passed away with his family by his side Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Jimmie was born July 11, 1927, to Homer Priest & Opal Hoselton Priest. At an early age, Jimmie lost his parents & was raised by his aunt & uncle, A.R. & Ola Smith. He graduated from Central High School in OKC. After graduation, he joined the Navy where he served in World War II on the USS O’Brien. He also served a second tour in the Korean War on the USS Yancey.

Jimmie loved serving his God & his country, but the light of his world was when he met & married Geraldine Boling on February 11, 1949 & had 61 beautiful years together. Jimmie worked as a welder and after working for American Iron & Western Electric, he retired from Xerox in 1982. His second passion was farming & the great outdoors.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents; aunt & uncle; a granddaughter, Heather Watkins; sister, Evangline Cindia; & brother, Bobby Brown. He is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine; daughter & son-inlaw, Fary & Larry Watkins of Harrah; two sons & their wives, Jimmie Joe, Jr. & Marilyn Priest of Edmond & Samuel & Nancy Priest of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren, David Priest, Melissa Sparks, Cari Hamm, Jimmie Joe III & Katrina Priest; & the apple of his eyes were his six great grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, Jess Brown & L.V. Brown of Houston, TX; two sisters, Ida Mae White & Emma Jennings of Hutchins, KS; two sisters-in-law, Gay Briggs of Wichita, KS & Marvel Savage of Midwest City; numerous nieces & nephews. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice for their loving care of our husband & dad.

Funeral services for Jimmie will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, OK.
