Mary Jane Yager of Del City passed away June 14, 2006 at her home. She was 67. Mary Jane was born Jan. 21, 1939 in Enid, to Fred Curtis and Ida Mildred Nowell Hastie. She came to Midwest City with her family in 1947 at the age of 8. Mary Jane was a draftsman for the Federal Electric Corporation which was a division of ITT. She married John Yager in Midwest City on June 16, 1962. After the birth of their daughter, she was a homemaker and mother. Mary Jane got involved in child care and tended to children for 37 years. She retired as the director of child care at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in April of this year. During her 37 years she worked at Wickline United Methodist, Aldersgate United Methodist and Meadowood Baptist Churches. She was a past president of Sooner-Rose PTA. She was active in her church, St. Matthew, where she was also the director of the Prayer Chain committee and the Thursday front desk volunteer. Mary Jane enjoyed cryptograms in the newspaper, computer solitaire and cruises, having just returned in April from the Caribbean with her husband and good friends John and Lunola Burns.

She is survived by John, her husband of 43 years; daughter, Maria Oberfeld and husband, Niklas of Houston; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church.

Interment followed at Arlington Memory Gardens. The family request memorials be made to the children’s programs at St. Matthew’s. Under the direction of Paylor Funeral Home.
